FYI - BHA & BHT is on the same hot list as EQ, at least in the dog/cat food circles. Both preservatives have been widely debated for almost as long as EQ. Kmuda has also condemned the use of those preservatives on his Oscar forum. FYI - ethoxyquin is also used in human food.

Dog and cat food have been mentioned a couple of time in this loooooooooooooong discussion and one food in particular came to my mind, a CAT FOOD, Canadian by coincidence. People in Europe is feeding this particular formula to fish. What do you think of it?

Lol damn it can never win!

The main Orijen manufacturing plant (Champion Pet Food) is a couple of hours north of me, and I have been feeding their food to my dogs for many years. Great Food! Having said that it is NOT advisable to feed dog or cat food to fish, even if it is fish based. As an example, in that cat formula the crude fat content is 20% (min), which outside of some cold water trout/salmon, is FAR to rich to be feeding to warm water tropical species. Just stick to fish food .....

I was just thinking back to when I bought my first bucket of NLS approx. 15 yrs ago, the cost was $50 US. Today, the cost for that same formula (cichlid formula) is still $50, yet the formula has clearly advanced in quality over the years. SA Krill is still the primary form of protein, along with fish, and squid, soybean isolate was dropped from their ingredient list years ago, and the increase and assortment of algae/seaweed has not only improved the nutrient levels and bioavailability of certain nutrients, it has also allowed the amount of wheat to be reduced as the algae also acts as a binding agent.

Not many things in life carry the same price tag as they did 15 yrs ago, and certainly not where the overall quality of the product line has at the same time improved.

Well hot damn, good to know NLS prices haven't risen with an increase in quality product.

Rocksor, thanks for the link to the Goldfish forum. Funny stuff, I missed that previously.
