The bigger problem with this virus has been so many infected do not have symptoms. Thai allowed the virus to become widespread as there was not a trail of actually sick people to follow
Hello; Let me be more clear. I think the fact so many of the infected do not have symptoms caught the medical folks by surprise. They started out fighting the last war so to speak and could not figure in that odd factor because they were not aware of it for a while. ( well I guess the Chinese doctors could have had a clue earlier but they were not allowed to share in a timely manner.)
I guess contact tracing is a standard practice which has been in use for a long time. Like any tool it can be effective under the right conditions, but I suspect not so much right now.

Calm down farmer chicx and don’t get your overalls in a bunch ya hillbilly

Hello; Not familiar with H.R. 6666.
Hello; Did a search. This is the TRACE act right? I fear the forum nannies will not allow much conversation on the specific bill. I get it is on the surface supposed to be a public health action. I guess the underlying implications of unwelcome surveillance is part of the issue.
My take for this particular covid19 outbreak is the tracing is pretty much too late.
For future outbreaks I can see an argument. Say a new different disease starts and the doctors get to the early infected folks in a timely manner. So you have three sick people over a few days with a new illness. I can see how being able to track every where their cell phone has been could speed up finding all the potential contacts. Say one has been home for a few days then only a few potential contacts. Say one is a bus driver then all the cell phones that have been on his bus can be traced. Say the third went shopping, then a lot of potential contacts could be traced. So far it seems innocent and mainly beneficial.

I guess it is like nuclear fission. Both good and bad outcomes. Nuclear bombs and nuclear power ( maybe nuclear medicine is a better example) . The bad would be the potential for misuse. Governments are know to misuse such technology. Edward Snowden comes to mind. Having seen the recent news I can picture how some state or local governments could go overboard with such a technology since they already do so without it. This of course is overboard action within the scope of the current covid19 pandemic. What about the potential for abuse outside of some disease outbreak?

I guess this is about as far as I dare to take my comments. The devil will bein the details as usual. Can the electronic tracking somehow be limited to only a disease outbreak or will there be a few other juicy situations where such tracking might be used?

Poor little fella.
This world while beautiful is a harsh mistress that cares not for you as it will let you die without batting an eye. You can be born at the bottom destined to have your life end in a few short years never able to enjoy the things life has to offer or you can be born at the top having access to everything your heart desires with no limit.

You are born as a weak defenseless organism that relies upon others to take care of you until you can do so for yourself, should they not succeed or they don’t wish to them your life will be cut prematurely as is shown here.

Such a shame, Rest In Peace little one, your life may have been short but your body goes back to the world that created you so that it may create another.

Yeah, while not delving into the politics of the bill I have been reading of different warnings of several rights being trampled upon and other potential evils. We may discuss this further elsewhere.
