Overflow doesn't have the holes for return nozzles (Help)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If I had the tank I would split them, I wouldn't go through the overflow. Doing so you'd either lose one of your drains of have to drill another hole.

Plus I suspect you'd get a lot less flow that way.

Ahhhh.. it seem that is true than
But yeah I'm still a little lost!
I understand the 2 drill hole returns will be a "Y" or "T" straight down to the pump since it will be outside of the overflow...so than do i plumb the 3 holes in my overflow as all drains?

It appears you have your arrows backwards. The arrows for the drains should be going into your overflow. Homework time, read this link-

http://www.beananimal.com/projects/silent-and-fail-safe-aquarium-overflow-system.aspx

That will tell you everything you need to know and how to set up your overflow. You cannot have a better system then this one.

As for your returns, besides the arrow going the wrong way, thats the right idea. One pipe out of the pump, when you get to the bottom of the tank split it, either with a T or the Y I posted last page, right up to the two holes you need to drill. If you post a shot of the back of the tank I'll draw it for you, a shot straight on it.

Sorry, I meant back with the overflow. I was thinking it was a peninsula style tank. Although I should ask, how do you intend to have this along the wall? Overflow side or black side?

Tank will be seen showing the front so overflow will be sticking out to the side...

Thats pretty much it. Your return arrow is pointing towards the pump against the flow, but thats the general idea.

That's what I thought too.. the 2 returns goes straight down to the pump..
3 holes in overflow I know i do a fail safe pipe, a drain line and what about the 3rd hole?
