pacu's go here?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
so anything but feeder goldfish will do fine? well platy's and mollies have much more substance to them than a guppy. and this can be their main staple forever? or what else if my fish are getting busy enough? convicts good idea?

stay away from live foods... they are no good. stick with pellets, raw shrimp, catfish, and tilapia

my lfs would know what kind specifically though? id like to stick with sticks or pellets, be consistent

depends on the lfs. stick to what joe has said. if buying fillets/other raw foods are a hassle, you may mix up the types of pellets and throw in dried tubifex worms from time to time. here in my area hikari gold isn't available so i alternate sumo flowerhorn pellets with regular fish pellets. if you're going to get juveniles keep a close watch, as cannibalism's more common at that age/size. good luck with the shoal!

i feed hikari cichlid bio gold pellets, but it is important to feed them a varied diet, so i feed them pellets and raw shrimp as their staple food and i mix it up with tilapia or catfish fillets and frozen silversides or krill. if you are going to feed them mainly a diet of pellets, that would be fine, but you'll probably have to wait for them to reach the 3 or 4 inch mark before you start them on pellets.

so id have to get frozen shrimp from my lfs to feed them until they got big enough to where they wouldnt eat each other? and dont they grow fast like pacu's?

i never owned Piranha .. i do like them alot...but i hear they are very boring.... where if you had three pacu they are very exciting and lots of personality and you could add tankmates... and they smile alot...

i find pacu's very interesting but i think id get more enjoyment out of a shoal of piranhas than 3 pacu's. plus for a dozen piranhas id only need a 125g tank whereas for three pacu's id need to spend ALOT of money to get a huge tank, which the piranhas seem more sensible to own than a pacu.
