pairing big angels ?!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Looking good. I agree with Liz, give them a place to lay the eggs. Even two that can be easily removed.

As regards to the dead angel, what are you water parameters? Temp, pH, nitrates, nitrites, ammonia?

it is supposed to lay eggs on that cone .. anyway i told to a friend of mine that used to breed angels to give me his slates ..

i had a question in my mind for a while .. can they breed on a glass slate .. ??! هi have many plastic plants but they are short .. they are near 15 cm tall

but i do not prefare plants .. don't know why i wanna them to get use on the slates or cones like discus ..

i ll move the parents and leave the fry in the tank until they ll be able to e moved in a bigger grow out tank

as for temp : 28 C

ph : 7.5

ammonia and others i do not measure them but i am changing part of the water daily .. so i guess no high rates ..

well they may use the cone.. but it is good to have a couple of places.. don't bother using those plants.. you really need wide leaf so they have room for all the eggs.. i don't know about glass slate..maybe Lupin would know..

Maybe the cone was not in the right place for them?! If you have more than one place they have a choice. The classic angel/discus breeding tank is for long time bonded pairs or set up by pros with perfect parameters. Not to say it isn't possible. Choice doesn't hurt, but hey. That's just my opinion.

Try lower the pH to 7 or even 6.8. The softer water may help. Try glass, it can't hurt. Put in four different materials at four different loctions and find out what your angels like.

What percentage of tank water are you chaging per day?

the only reason i try not to move parents is because i do not like stressing parents.. sometimes it is so easy to just take out the eggs ..on what ever they are on...place in another tank with gentle air stone on mist facing the eggs.. to keep good water circulation but not so much pressure that it hurts the eggs.. and let them hatch and become wigglers then free swimmers there..

They'll try either the glass slates or cones. Mine had spawned once on a heater cord much to my amusement as I never imagined they would try the cord.lol That kind of plastic plants will unlikely to favor the angels. Like Liz said, you need a really broad plant for that to work.

ok there is now 2 glass slates but it is not a good idea ..

and i moved the cone near to the place they spent most of time swimming in ..

and i am changing near to 4 liters a day from 50 liters ..

ok then i have 2 choices now .. either do i leave the fry with their parents or i orderd to tanks = l x w x h = 60 x 45 x 45 .. in order to move the eggs in it ...

ok and i ll try to get other long wide plants as soon as passable

and they sort of calm now than 2 days ago but they are hiding most of time in the part of tank that i could not see unless i am in front of it's side

can they breed on a draft wood ?? as one i know his discus is breeding on a amazon plant and on a draft wood .. !!

Yes they can and will lay eggs on driftwood. I have had my spawn on a few different pieces of driftwood.
