Your own post sums up most of your problem...you assume WAY too much and you think the world revolves entirly around you. My comments were directed to a LOT of people posting on this thread and not just you...

The Sationed and regulated drifting event at the school was safe and well supervised. My complaint was only that I had to pony up the gelt for new tires so he could get to work and back. He baught his own car...modifyed it on his own and has had a job from 15 years old on...

If you get married you'll have to taylor what you'd like to do with what your wife wants to do and then eventually when you have kids you'll have thier needs to think about.

In time they will grow into teens complaining about how the nasty old man wont let them get this tank or that tank all without concidering what it's doing to the rest of the familly who dont share thier love of fish OR the huge electrical bills.

Reasonable depends a great deal on your point of view...

You quoted me so I assumed that it was directed at me cause you never said otherwise. That doesn't make me self absorbed. You don't know me so don't draw up a conclusion on what your read in two posts. I don't think the world revolves around me. It amazes me that you come up with such an assumption so quickly, but the again I do notice you look down your nose at those younger then you. Be aware that those younger then you are entitled to an opinion, even if it goes against your own. They are also allow to complain, if you don't like it don't read it. I also read through alot of these threads thinking whinging little brats, but I don't need to feed my own ego and post about how I know better then them though.

About the drifting, you never said it was legal and the way it is worded one can only assume it is illegal, I still stand by my statement that my parents would make me pay for it. If I couldn't afford to replace them I shouldn't be drifting and I would have to take public transport or find another means to get to work.

I pay $1000 extra on my board a year to cover electricity, our electricity bill each year is $2000. You do the math.

That is admirable if all you say is true Nova 8. I never complained to my parents and I dont think they ever had reason to complain about me, but I was never independant financially to that degree. Although I had summer jobs from the time I was 13, all the money I earned was mine to do with as I pleased. Usually that meant giving it to my dad for investment since I wasnt into drugs :p.

Don't let anyone put you down if you are doing this on your own. It is great if you can be that independent at a young age. Whatever happens you have to make your own decisions in life and be your own person. My least successful friends are those who have yet to break free of their parents' clutches. There has been a lot of focus recently on how adult children seem not to want to leave their parents, but it is also true that parents seem less willing to let go of their kids.

As a last point, it is just as bad to be a whining kid as it is to be an adult putting down a whining kid. Granted, this is a forum for all ages, but you have to keep in mind who you're dealing with when you start attacking people like that. You can't expect the same out of a 15 or 19 year old that you can out of someone with 30+ years of experience under their belts, why bother trying? You all were kids once, and everyone grows up eventually.

My Dad can't stand my fish, or any of my animals for that matter, he doesn't see the point.

Mum isn't a fan of it either, but she'll take me to the pet store when I ask, and lend me money if something breaks that needs to be replaced immediately. It helps that Mum has her own fish, which I care for, she adores her goldies and angelfish (two tanks). Because I do all the maintenance for them she pays for fish food, test kits and other essential supplies that I need which is great. I think she sees it as a way to keep me out of trouble LOL.

my dad doesnt care and I think he actually likes my fish quite abit, but my mom think i got ot many

My dad and I go to Pet Shops almost every weekend, and we have since I learned how to walk, so my dad had no problems totting me to every fish store in the state (even took me to Chicago to see the Shedd!). He's brought me home stacks of books (even 2 Aqualogs!) because he says it's "educational reading" and his stance has always been that if I read it, and learn, and keep the book nice, that it's free of charge and he will get it for me. He's slowly looking into a 10g tank with Galaxy Rasboras and Pygmy Corys. So, I'd say he supports my hobby fully.

My mom has no problems with it, but she isn't as gung-ho as my dad is on it. She bought me a 55g tank one day out of the blue, which was very very nice. However, I'm not sure if it's the hobby itself, or just me. Every hobby or phase I've had, she's always done her best to help me pursue it. Even when I was little and it was stupid stuff like Pokemon cards, she'd take me to Target, Walmart, Meijers, anywhere at 6am to get the cards before anyone else did.

My girlfriend however.... that's a 180 degree turn there...

I have the best parents ever. ^^

my grandparents are iffy
but i put it to my grandpa you have your workshop i have my fish
atleast i'm not doing pot(atleast that he knows of ......evil grin.....)
so he's ok with my fish
he wants a salt water tank but the only problem is there is only 1 fih store with in 75 miles of here and they only cary fw fish

My mum loves my fish keeping hobby, she feeds my fish with me most nights and enjoys watching my ornates but she loves my New Zealand Native tank with my longfin eel. My Dad loves animals so he also likes my hobby although he keeps telling me my 90 litre is all i will ever need...My mum says I can have whatever size tank my heart desires as long as i can pay for it and the power bills. =) So im getting my 320gallon soon! YAY

My mom just is happy I dont have a dog or cat. She feeds my fish sometimes for me when Im not able to. She has nicknames for my fish. Like she says "I hate big mouth hes so mean to the female!" Shes talking about my male and female frontosa. She loves how my synodontis' swim upside down all the time. I would think everyones family would be happy that we have a healthy hobby that doesnt hurt anyone. (not that I can think of anyway) I would love to have my mom go with me to a fish store to see what cool stuff they have but she says they are boring hehe
