picked up 2 1" EBJDs, questions

Once they hit sexual maturity we pretty much stop hearing of them dying off with the standard signs of internal parasites we also hear of a FAR less % of them dying at this stage
Ive grown out at least 4 groups of Blue Dempseys with UV lights and then kept choice young adults/adults in tanks without UV lights with no problems with internal parasites. Some of my adult Blues have even gotten small outbreaks of ick and survived just fine.
Many people will speculate and suggest that a fish which is raised in a tank with UV lights will not properly develop an immune system. My personal experience proves this speculation untrue
I hear Jungle Parasite Clear is a good product I hear feeding some form of garlic substitute helps but Ive yet to have a Blue Dempsey show signs of internal parasites so I havent needed to try any of these methods Because Ive used UV lights on every baby Blue Ive raised

Mine aren't perfect either though, but I still love 'em. The larger of the 2 has underdeveloped fins on its stomache (I always forget the technical terms for fins). The same one also has what looks like a nip taken out of the back end of his top fin. It's been there since day 1 (one of the ways I couldn't distinguish between the two EBJDs), I just noticed it never healed a few weeks ago. So, I'm starting to think that may be another fin deformity...not sure though.Its kind of funny, I didn't notice the imperfections at the store either.

My method has been to grow out babies with UV lights... then when they start showing signs of sexual maturity (pairing if a female is present or aggressive territorializm between males) I remove the male/aggressor... If available I put him somewhere with a UV if not I put him in a tank without...
One good piece of advice though... would be to follow threads like this and find those people who have not had parasitic related deaths and find out where they got their Blues... I am personally convinced that most of the problems with Blue Dempseys are based on the quality of the line they come from...

Another concern of mine.The last time I had the Blue Jacks,it seemed when i feed them that they were always looking for something else.Alot of the time i noticed they ate very little,they would take the food in thier mouth and spit it back out.What do you all feed your Blue Jacks?
Also ,I got a UV sterilizer and I just could not stop myself.I had to get two of these little beauts.Recieved these on friday.

And another ?.What do you think of feeding the Blue Jacks some live brine shrimp?I raise brine shrimp to about 1/8-1/4" or so and give them as treats to my adult fish.But i could give the Jacks some of the newer hatched shrimp.
