Hey Thanks for the info.

Yeah i thought it needed some antibiotics. Anyways i found a vet that deals in turtle, he has given me meds and injection shots for 5 days. He says he dont know if the turtle will make it or not cos the fungus has made it in the blood stream but he said see how it goes. Fingers cross!!! A lesson for me to learn look before you swap or buy. There are dodgy people out there.

welcome. ;)

we are just some idiots who can do almost anything for the sake of these endangered creatures.

i believe the FRT will do well under your care once it is fully recovered.

OK I have to inject it every two days with Fortum some antibiotics that the vet gave. He also told me to take the turtle out every day still and put betadine on the spots they may cause an infection.

i have read a thread and someone said betadine is bad. Well if it is bad for the FRT not sure why the vet who suggest me to keep on using it.

Anyways the injection will continue for 6 weeks until the vet reckons it will fully recover.

not sure if betadine is bad for them. I've not used that before.

I dunno about betadine as I've never used it before.
I think that if you're worried you can use the Japanese Yellow Powder we talked about.

You can read about it here: http://www.rafflesgold.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3598

Btw you need to be registered to access that forum.

Japanese Yellow powder is actually Sodium Nifurstyrenate, an antibiotic.
Excellent for external injuries and infections on FRTs. One thing though, it will kill all your bacteria in your filter so take your FRT out for a seperate medicinal bath

yeah i had a look around for the powder but cannot seem to find any of that medication here in the shop or sometimes they look at me weird as to what the hell i am talking about. They only sell myxazin and pimafix for fungus and bacteria. But i woke up this morning and chucked in a few protein pellets and saw it ate so thats a good sign. As long it keeps on eating im sure the meds and antibiotic shots im giving it will start to take over and heal the poor bugger.

probably that is not common over at your side.

what protein pellets? FRTs are not suppose to have high protein food.

Yeah I know. My friend in Oz tells me the LFS gave her a weird look when she asked for Japanese filter mat and bacteria house.

Anyway, give it Nutrafin floating pellets or Hikari Sinking Wafers or at least make sure the protein content is not over 34%

Too much protein is bad for a young FRT. It can cause upturn shell
