from the pics above, you can see that the upturn shell at the 2 sides is actually due to the stunted growth. the upturn shell start to recover 1st before the FRT gain length in its shell. it took quite a long time for it to recover fully. during the "recovery" process it is still very active and "healthy".

its always good to look back and see how much they have grown/changed over the time with you. you will be very happy and satisfied with the progress when you look back at these pics.

They tend to grow around 1"-2" in a year but it's really hard to say because for my 2nd FRT, she grew about 2" in only a few months

Then again, Schmike always say I have an abnormal tank

when i got it, it was only around 6" SCL. now it is around 8" SCL. so it grew by around 2" in the last 2 years.

it's the same FRT. the one that is with me for the longest period of time. it was kept in a 2'x1'x1' for 6 years. when the owner told me he wanted to give it up, i took over from him.

the 2nd one is only with me since September last year. its upturn shell is recovering "soon".

the last one is with me for just slightly over a month. its lung infection is cured and still a long way for its upturn shell to heal.

upturn shell is very common in these turtles as most people feed them with a high protein diet. not knowing that these turtles need more on plants rather than animals in their diet.
