Ok firstly, I'm doing this for my mom because the arowana has sentimental value to her. I have nothing to do with this, my mom bought the fish I'm just typing it in first person so didn't have to get in to details but you guys started to criticize so I just explained what is really happening. Just to clear the air, Im basically trying to gain some knowlegde so I can I can tell my mom what she's doing wrong. So should I just leave the fish be?

i believe you not...yes let the fish be, and take the other two back that cannot possibly have sentimental value yet

Ok thanks for the incoming advice, now since I can't do much for the fish now I have gained a bit more knowledge on how to take care of fishes, and just to put it out there this isn't my hobbie, it's more of my moms, I'm just doing all this because I don't want the fish to die because of her ignorance. I hope she will realize that taking care of fishes requires more thought and knowledge than just going at it clueless.

I think everyone who posts negative or demeaning things in this thread needs to step back and try to assess the situation first. Damage has been done, but with any mistake, a lesson needs to be learned.

Well, telling my mom to take the fishes back to the store wil be like trying to pull teeth out of a crocadile so it's no good. But what I thought was can I just take the sick fish back to a LFS as a trade in? if not then I guess i'll just have to wait and see what will happen tomorrow morning.

you cannot be serious? i thought this fish had sentimental value but now that it's sick, because you messed up, then it can be traded no problem? but of course the healthy ones cannot possibly be traded in

Make sure that she knows that a proper setup for these guys can run you several thousand dollars. That may change her mind about it. Lol

highly doubting they will take a half dead fish back.... they will most likely ask for a sample of your water, which would probably reveal that it is not good. sorry for your loss but at least you found out what you were doing wrong before the next two met their fate

Do not trade in the sick fish. This is your lesson to learn. When you make a mistake, you have to suffer the consequences. Unfortunately, it is the fish which suffers most.

Have you read the articles I linked you to yet?

You seem to be more interested in the monetary value of the fish than the fact that, by your ignorance and your mother's ignorance, you are killing animals.

If she is really the one driving the bus, so to speak, and your hands are tied, then allow her to read this post, and then print those articles out for her so that she can read them.

This is just incredibly sad and I hope it's not real, but I'm afraid that it is.

Yea that was a very stupid idea, my mom would skin me alive if I suggested that. So forget about that. I guess I'll ask her tomorrow about giving back the new arowana's.
