PLEASE HELP!!! MY AROWANA MAY BE DYING!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
This isn't for me, it's for my Mom so even if I showed her this thread she would ask me to translate it. We are of oriental decent if it matters so she doesn't understand all of this. So everything that has been posted here is for my learning so I could prevent further tragedies like this from happening again.

i guess theres some truth in that, but i think everyone was a newbie at some point.... most people do end up making mistakes, maybe some worse than others but i think some people need to take a few breathes and take it a little easier on some people
i agree. we all where noobs at one point at keeping fish.

Well, you could still read it and tell her what we're saying, and what the articles are saying. She cannot ignore, "Mom, you're killing your fish." You did come to us for help, and I apologize for those that simply want to jump on the bandwagon and tear you down, without offering useful information, but many do want to help you. However, you're going to have to be the one to express what we're telling you to your mom.

OK, now you're making sense. I believe you. I do understand how the arowana is considered to be a good luck charm within the asian culture. Asians call the arowana "Dragon fish. "All I can say is talk to mommy. She's reasonable. Good luck.

you might have to completely take over fish keeping in your house... lol there is tons and tons of info on this site. just take a few hours and look through it. you will learn a ton!

it's very simple though, if advice isn't taken with an open mind and is just refused then the advice is for naught. it doesn't matter if its the op, his mom or whoever if they refuse to go at it with an open mind

Thanks guys you've finally realize that I'm not doing this as a joke I'm very serious about this and I really appreciate the people that understand my situation and are trying to help me by giving useful advice. but it comes down to this, will the fish have a fighting chance or is all hope lost for the fish.

The two very first things you have to understand, is how to cycle a tank and how to maintain the tank. The next step is researching fish before buying them to see their potential size, diet, aggression level and all that stuff.

well if you got some strong arrows they might b able to endure your tank not being cycled. but youve gotta start making plans for an upgrade in tank size in the near future.
