PS3 or Xbox360 or Neither

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Reading thru this most people who own only one system seem to say get that sysytem, but people who own both tend to give the PS3 the nod. I had my 360 first and got alot of enjoyment out of it but when PS3 came along if a game was offered on both systems I got it for the PS3.

Everyone is going to say MGS is what makes the PS3 but honestly how many times has 360 dominated PS3 in sales?

Halo 3's release alone, Xbox 360s sold were twice as many as PS3's and even Gears of War 1 dominated PS3. Just wait until GOW2 comes out. It's going to be the finishing move to end PS3's rein.

3-4 years is a little ridiculous for a new supposedly "best" console to put out some decent games.

PS3 all the way i have owned both and the PS3 is hands down the best!! Free online play better picture quality as long as you have HDMI cord, Blue Ray ( Sick picture ), Supposedly i have heard in the next year PS3 will have more games out then any other system ever i would say maybe 2 years though a year is not that long. As for the 360 no just fixing every problem thats horrible why not just test it long enough to make sure that those things don't happen like Sony tested the PS3 for a long time and not no problems when they are released Microsoft just rushed the 360 not a wise decision IMO

If you were to buy a brand new 360 you would not get the red ring. Just don't buy used and you are fine.

Well my brother (who works for Microsoft BTW on the Xbox team) can prove you wrong. He's been through 2 or 3 Xbox360s already. All were new and all got the RROD and now his latest problem is tha the drive is ruinning his discs and scratching them beyond repair. Microsoft didn't cover that btw.

So he got tired of all the BS and waiting and went out to get a PS3 and that's all he plays now.

Like I said......360 has good games but the hardware is BAD!

My bro was like you. he was very pro 360 but finally he just admitted it. the hardware is cheap and fails. Too bad cause the games are good.

just wanted to let you know that I am not a hardcore PS3 Gamer. I only have a handfull of games. About 8 only. 95% of the time my PS3 is just a Blu-Ray Player to me. I have over 60 movies on Blu-ray already.

Just for the fact that the PS3 plays Blu-Ray already makes it a better buy. The price is about the same or cheaper than some players out there and it's both a game machine and blu-ray player in one already. One of the best Blu-ray players out there if I may say.

For now. What about when the 360 has the external Blu-Ray? They are currently working on it.

PS3 just got lucky with Blu-Ray. Microsoft was unlucky with the HD DVD.

Besides, I would rather have an external Blu-Ray rather then the built in one. What happens when it breaks?

And btw, PS3 has its own problems:

http://kotaku.com/5021458/ps3-240-update-problems-and-solutions

While it seems like every time the PlayStation 3 undergoes a firmware upgrade is plagued by people trying to blame broken systems on the update, last night's 2.40 update seems to have caused genuine issues with many posters over at the official PlayStation forums. Owners of PS3s in all shapes and sizes have been reporting that their systems were loading to the initial PlayStation wave screen and simply hanging there after applying 2.40. No icons, no controller functions, no nothing, just the wave across the middle of the screen. There doesn't seem to be any real pattern as to which systems are affected. 60GB, 40GB, 20GB, and 80GB systems alike have all been afflicted with the issue. We've contacted Sony for word on the issue, but in the meantime several of the more tech savvy forum posters have determined how to fix the issue, if you're willing to yank out your console's hard disk drive.
Users found that removing and reformatting their PS3 hard drive and then reinserting it into the console would get the system to boot completely, after which it asks to reformat the disk again and everything runs normally. Of course they lose all of their saved games and have to redo all of their downloads, but I suppose that is better than sending in the system for a $150.00 repair.
One can only assume that the update was the catalyst that caused certain data on affected hard disks to become corrupt, rendering the system unbootable. It would certainly explain why only certain systems are being affected, and why Sony couldn't have caught the problem in the first place.
We'll keep you updated on the issue as we learn more. In the meantime, feel free to hit the link below to read through 30 plus pages of quality PS3 forum drama.

I haven't experienced that disc scratching nor have I heard of it from any of my friends that own 360s. Hardware problems happen. Even with computers a disc drive can potentially scratch up a disc. Also I haven't heard of the elites acting up or anyone that I know of that have recently bought a new 360 having any problems with them. Atleast Microsoft fixes their problem for free. Sony never did fix their PS2's that broke, and yes they did break just as much maybe more then the 360. The only difference is Microsoft went public with it so now everyone thinks that EVERY 360 is going to fail.
