Seachem has a new water conditioner that's "better" than Prime

I agree. I have only had the sulfur odor after a severe overdose....Meaning I dropped an almost full bottle in the tank and it took me about 10 seconds to retrieve it. Even then, it went away after a day or two with the windows cracked.

Thanks, you two. I was kinda worried about my parents when they come over to visit. My mother has the keenest nose in the county, next to my 3 dogs, I think. She's not real receptive to offensive odor's which resemble the smell of sulphur, Liquid Propane Gas (LPG/rotten egg smells) etc. It really bothers her something fierce. But thanks. Your replies have helped. I just have to remember to not drop any bottles in my tank. 2 days with my house windows open, Brrrrrrr.

I was also concerned about the possibilities of mixing the Alpha/Prime with the water in large quantities and storing the mix in 2 - one thousand gallon pottable water storage tanks. Any advise would be appreciated on mixing and storing until needed.

I've always found Seachem's prices to be extremely reasonable. Maybe their new manufacturing process for alpha makes it cheaper to produce--I don't know. I think Stability is the best "liquid cycling" product on the market and it is cheaper than a lot of other competing products.

I completely agree. Once you go stability, you never go back. Dr. Leo Morin (owner of SeaChem) knows his stuff, and seems like a really down to Earth guy.

Nice, it would be great if this stuff actually works.

But I think it would take about a year for me to convert from Prime to Alpha.
Very skeptical about this new product.
Until other MFK members [scapegoats ] bought it and confirms that it really works, then ill try it.

I know this probably isn't the thread to say this in, but I use amquel & buy it in the gallon jugs. It is cheaper, and keeps my lfs trips down. If I could find a gallon size of prime, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

No one in my area carries it, and it is more expensive for them to order it because they are not getting bulk discount.

lmao! I'd need a small forklift to treat my tap water.

I'd think that it would be no good by the time I got to the bottom.

I would have to ask why would you use prime/alpha if you are going to let the water age and de-chlorinate on its own? - Chlorine Dissipation - At the bottom it talks about chlorine and chloramine.

IMO Prime/Alpha are used for immediate de-chlorination.

The whole aquavitro line is advertised towards reefing, so I can't see how Alpha would not work, reefer are crazy about thier tanks and I'm sure have tested this well along with seachem who produces great products.

A lot of reefers use RO/DI water though so not sure how much it does get used, i'm sure the rest of the aquavitro line is popular though.

Some folks age their water to degass any excess nitrogen. And if you have chloramines, you'll still need to treat the water, since chloramine will not dissipate like chlorine does.

Ehhh seems to me they made a flashier package maybe added a little more chemical will be fazing prime out and rising the price of this new stuff...IMO you can bet on it ....
