SHOALING AFRICAN PIKES

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have one in my 240g. Its 10-11'' now and still growing. I dont think the tank will hold him for life. He is in with a VATF, a gold wolf, snakeheads etc, so i will have to upgrade either way.

This thread is great!!!!

So IF someone has an Odoe over 12 inches they are full of it?

I think it's funny you start a thread asking for advice when really it appears you are the expert on these fish......

Can you tell me the difference between male and female? I think I have both.

Dont know about that. For now he has plenty of room, because the tank is 32'' wide. But i dont think, he will stop @ 12''.

:ROFL: yup i know common sense i just wanted to know how many could i shoal and how they act in a shoal

At what size are you going to get them? I suggest starting small, for sure.

Channarox-have you actually had these fish? Please!
Guys we are not talking about Red Tail Cats or Pacus we are talking about fish that max out at 12 inches no matter how big the tank you get for them!! How do you know my friends fish aren't happy-what did you fly to El Paso and see them for yourself? Please-his fish never bang on the glass and aren't skittish at all. At first they were that way but once they identified him as the "guy who feeds us" they go to the top of the tank begging for food. Let me reiterate even if they could grow to what they get in the wild, a 300 gallon would be more than enough room-in the wild they max out at 2 feet. And if your theory is poor fish needs plenty of room, then why keep fish at all-according to your thinking keeping fish is bad period!! So if you don't have an outdoor pond in your backyard then you shouldn't have fish at all! What a bunch of BS!! This is Monster Fish Keepers-not PETA!

This thread's not closed yet? wierd. Don't post if you don't want the advice from people who keep and have kept these fish.

caribemob - Good luck! You'll love these fish. They have great personalities and, on the plus side, if they end up not working out then there are plenty of people on this forum that will buy them from you! (try bichirs too!)
