step one grab large caliber hand gun

step two lock the van

step three walk in tell then to drop the stuff and lay down or there going to have a large hole in them

step four call the cops
See problem with that is that the criminals could counter sue saying they got assaulted...

Two wrongs do not make a right but... I bet those robbers will think twice about taking something thats not theirs next time. You always see the bad guys on the news tearing up a nice car trying to get away from the cops after stealing something dumb like a pac of smokes or something eles stupid like that. So this guy saved the car from having to go through this. Now the cops can sell th car & use the cash to feed the ones that are in jail.
I think I would take the get away car to if I hade the chance.:naughty:

Just another flaw of today's society.:headshake

well i think it was pretty brave of him to do it, but i would have just called the cops with the plate and description and use my cellphone to take pics of them all... then id be so pissed off i would be taking pics of them as they are trying to get away.. and id be yelling at them..

then again i work in psych-so maybe im a little off

I read about the yesterday. Smart move the guy made, I wonder if he burned rubber as we he took off.

no they shouldnt, but with this justice system today u never know! there was that robber who fell through the skylight into the kitchen and cut himself! then sued the owner and won!!!!!

Althought he plot line is true, the verdict is more of an urban legend. When entering a residence or place of business without permission, i.e. trespassing, the legal responsibility of the owners goes out the window. That particular crook did sue the family and the case was thrown out of court.

Here's my $0.02.....stealing a van is illegal, yes, as it should be. Would he have really been prosecuted, possibly? Would he have been convicted, probably not.

In Ohio where I'm from that's NOT a crime. It passed late last year. if a intruder enters your home you don't have to wait to see if they are there to do harm to you and yours. You have every right to shot them. If you kill them it's not going to be held against you b/c you were protecting you and your family from semeinly certain harm. It used to be they had to either show a weapon or do harm to the homeowner first but now it's shot then ask. I love it. I personally would not think twice about shoting a person who breaks into my home. I'm not waiting to see if they hurt someone before I step in.

i will make sure i call before i come check out the fish. and i will knock on the door, then lay flat on the ground with arms spread, so i dont look like a threat ...:ROFL:

no because he was excaping from a crime scene...

How is that protecting the criminal more? You're providing the police with every bit of information they need. The criminals are going to jail and if they do get away before the police show up then everything they get away with should be covered by homeowners insurance until it can be recovered. The criminals don't have more rights than honest civilians but honest civilians don't have more either. We're all citizens, like it or not.

This thread and the ignorance posted herein makes me want to do this ---> :wall:

Ignorance is a good word here. You must live in a white picket fence neighborhood, with a wife, two kids, a dog, and a goldfish, in a town that DOESN'T EXIST. Seriously. This isn't even a debate. Any thought that he had no other defenses? Or maybe he was trying to draw them AWAY from his family? That would have been my first concern, followed immediately after by beating the living s/*% out of each and every one of them. Just like JCardona said, that could have been a stolen van, stolen plates, whatever. There is ZERO guarantee in sitting in your sleepies, looking out the window with a pen and pad writing down the plate number to the "crooked little mongrel" that just drove away with your belongings.

Here's an example to bounce that wasted effort of civilian "action". When I was younger, still at home, my sister had an abusive ex. One night we heard a loud noise in the driveway, followed by my car alarm going off. I ran out to see a truck taking off. My brother had a room next to the drive, and told me it was this said ex, and he threw a brick at my car. He watched the whole thing happen. So we get the cops, telling them exactly the truck and driver. They dropped it all because my brother couldn't tell them what color shirt he was wearing! So I can go destroy someone elses property, then change clothes, and it's cool. BS. Next time, I catch them myself and SHOW the cops what color shirt they're wearing, which by that point would be a shade of red.
