My ACF (not really a fish I guess) has to be the dumbest thing in my tank. He can smell food, and will swim around scooping water towards his face, but he'll come to rest sitting on top of a chunk of meat without touching it. He will gobble anything that he actually catches by accident, but he's completely useless at finding it.

My goldfish "Buddy" isn't too bright either. He tries to snuggle my oscar, and loses a scale or two, then goes to snuggle my bronze knife, and gets chased around for half an hour... then goes back to the oscar for love. *shake*

I wouldn't say any of the fish in my tank are overly bright :p Although, if my oscar wants something, he will find a way to get at it, even if it means rearranging the tank. I'm not sure what kind of oscar isn't an agressive feeder... I have to watch my fingers when I feed mine, and he's well fed!

Meanest I've got has to be the bronze knife... I call him simply "angry". In the week I've had him, he's decided he didn't like my big moss ball, and has torn a bunch of tufts out of it. He's uprooted some of my more fragile plants, and he'll square off against anyone who gets close to him. Oh and he likes chasing Buddy around :p

Poor, Poor, Buddy  Slimy II does the same thing. if only he would stay away from the Texas Chilids, they never approach him, but when he comes near them he gets an *** whoopin.

I had a 5" porcupine puffer, I think he was more tenacous than smart, he tore apart everything in the tank, and got into it with the 7" grouper all the time. he left the lion alone. the lion wasnt smart, he just floated around. the grouper just rested in his hole, and the puffer worked on destroying everything in the tank, including powerheads, rocks, etc...

I think the smartest fish may be Fire Eels (mastacembelus erythrotaenia) they will come out and let you pet and hold them and they take food from your hand:eek:

Eels, they come off to me as being extremely intelligent.

Had 2 fire eels once, they were jumpers. since they were always burried, i got used to never seein' them...
... Till I found them completely dried up behind the tank. I was sad.

Great Whites are extrmely smart. I was watching a show on them last night and some of the things they showed were just amazing. They actually poke their heads out of the water to see what's going on!!!

I think any fish that can figure out how to get out of its tank when it has a sealed top is smart, but stupid at the same time.

susealen worm fish (it black colored and looks just like a worm an i know i spelled it worng)they can breath air i had one that was out of it's tank for about 18hour it was dry and next to dead it was 5 feet away from its tank in a crack underneath a door way! it made its own piles of water traces that is how it survied and that is how i found it the next day when i came home from work and went to sleep.

must not leave no cracks at all for them!
