Sooo...how much candy did you give out today?

I love Halloween, and the little kids out trick or treating reminds me of a simpler and happy time. So, I'm more than happy to give out treats................unless I'm out with my own youngins. However, I don't care at all for the older kids(teens) who shows up later in the evening. Especially, those that don't even bother wearing a costume. Of course, I give these older kids crappy candy (tootsie rolls, candy corn, etc)
 
Yeah I don't much care for teens showing up at my door with their hands out.I have a hard and fast rule of no costume,no candy.
 
police around here are anti trick or treat. they say to make appointments before trick or treating, only trick or treat relatives, they ask shopkeepers not to sell candy before halloween, and they say to not do the trick part. talk about spoilsports...

My lowest turnout in the past 10 yrs was 63 kids, this year I hit 113. I gotta admit the little tykes are always adorable. But some of the best costumes I've seen were worn by teenagers (14 -16 yrs old) so I'm not overly discriminative when it comes to who rings my doorbell. In fact I even had 2 moms this year dress up with their little ones, carrying a bag for themselves.
As for the few teens I get not dressed up .... I make them have a story for their street clothes ... see how fast they can think on their feet. Things I've heard through the years were (high school Jock, high school Punk, a Bum with new clothes ... and my all time favorite reply "I"m Kelso from that 70's show" that kid didn't miss a beat in his reply.
So when it comes to halloween and a person does up their house like some of us crazies out there .... well it's about kids and fun (good fun) so I'm pretty easy going. After all it only comes once a year ... and its one of the few (if not the only) days solely devote to kids (kids of all ages)

Props to you again Mr.Mom... I guess some people forget how the adults can ask for a trick / performance of some sort before giving out candy...

I remember when i was a kid a few families used to reply "trick" when we said trick or treat... And as the youngins we were we'd either come up with some cheesy song or other silly little magic tricks that didnt make any sense...

I would say anything over 10 is to old to go trick or treating.thats the age I was when I decided I was to old to continue.we haven't had anyone show up for candy in years not even family that live near.the people who know someone lives down here don't come to avoid the wild life and the rest don't go to the solo house out in the middle of the woods lol.
