Addict and fobrinkle. If you ever find yourself in wisconsin, I will show/equip you. I work for a divestore so that wouldnt be a problem. Idk the spearing regulations in MN, but they are really restrictive in Michigan I know that. Probably only certain rough fish. Ill post more pictures when I get home tonight.

in MN you can only spear rough fish...you must be 1000ft away from a simming beach and fully submerged...if you ice dive then you could get pike and catfish aswell...also you have to be outside city limits to shot as they count as a weapon, just like bowfishing...one of the reasons i hand spear them and bowfish instead of dive spearing...

i catch way to many small drum on the crouix...i see alot of monsters on the snake r. and in a few lakes...i may have to try is...although i don't think you can beat smoked redhorse...

Quality of the meat may be affected by where it was caught...for the most part lake michigan is huge and clean...ie...high quality meat. But who knows...never shot one anywhere else. Give it a go and let me know what you think. Oh...and side note. No fish better smoked than pacu. Wish I had pictures from last night.

That is awesome...Ive heard that MN rules are confusing...here in WI you have to be 400ft from a swimming area, you can spear panfish as well as rough fish (this means no cats :() and DEFINITELY no pike. I actually think I might prefer to be in your shoes! ha ha

never had pacu, brook trout are up there on the best eatting list...the cats and pike are through a loop hole as in the summer you can't shoot eaither, but in the winter you can spear them...they just open night bowfishing i plan to try that...also bowfishing through the ice:naughty:...i can't breath well with scuba equip on or i would ice dive and shoot some monster trout fed pike:naughty:...

Ya that would be awesome...I used to be sponsored...so I was a pure freediver when it came to shooting fish. Never speared from above the ice, but I think that you can above ice spear for northerns here in wisconsin as well.

Nice thread, ill be purchasing a PSE re curve for the sake of bowfishing, so when the warmer months rock back around ill be smashing some euro carp, im a noob to the concept so any info or links would be appreciated, sorry for derailing.

When I lived in Guam I did a lot of saltwater spearfishing with a sling spear. Doing it at night while trying to keep thoughts of huge sharks swimming up from the dark depths out of your mind made it about as sporty as it gets.

for bowfishing aim low...when you think you are low enough go a few inches down...don't use sites all instinct shooting...don't move fast as they have great eye sight...go for body shots you'll miss 99.9% of head shots...you will miss ALOT don't get discuraged, when i first started i was 1 hit out of 100 shots...go with the better kits for you set up as you will be happier trust me...gl
