Spearfishing Anyone?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Sweet fish sick bugs. I have had chance to bag pompano...didnt take it because I wasnt sure of the regs in FL. How do the big jacks taste? Post more PICS!

vaipulu. Love to see someone else reppin the shaka. Also good job taking out the lions, I hear that they are getting crazy on the east coast. I dont shoot anything I dont eat (Other than carp and I assume as the lions are invasive it might be the same with you.) have you ever tried a lion though?

Freshwater diving is usually done in early spring around here. Other than that we have a river that maintains 10ft clarity year round, and we do some spearing in there. Then...lake michigan is just about two hours away. I have never speared in superior, but might give it a shot this summer.

I saw a carp in the rio grande and I saw a large sharp stick nearby and threw it at the fish and i was surprised I caught it. I was going to go blowgun fishing but I dont have time and we moved too far away from the river for me to walk. The carp was about 1 1/2 - 2 feet. Ill see if I can post pics from my phone

i dont think you can spear african pompano in state waters in FL, only federal waters, same for permit (i could be way off so dont take my word for it, i try to keep up with fish regs on spots i may eventually dive) but they are pretty good eating.

Yea you cant. Its stupid. FL is pretty up-tight about what you can bag and doesnt allow freshwater spearing. Not even for oscars! (Which I really wanted to do while I was down there.)

Common guys, pictures from everyone. Lets get this thing started...again. :D

Never eaten cuda...always been told that they are too oily a meat to be any good.

Really? I heard thats its good meet but have been to scared to try due to ciguatera.

great meat, if ciguatera is a problem, shoot the smaller ones (5 lbs and under) and you should be fine. the meat on the smaller ones is even better than the big ones
