You mean where you live?..
Not far from where I live, a little ways drive, you'd be surprised what's running around, sometimes smugglers jumping the border lose or dump exotic animals, or deliberately release exotics in the hope they will protect their stash of illegal stuff, or even to intimidate others.

Perhaps you could use that as inspiration for a story : the beast that ate Canada or something like that
No way man. Our pet polar bears always protect our properties. As soon as you cross the border you are in danger of swamp donkeys lurking in the forest. They may be herbivores but man are they ever huge and you don’t want to mess with them. If a semi truck hits a swamp donkey, the semi is screwed, and the moose runs away into the darkness...... even in the day time.
