How about a severum? Lots of nice color morphs to choose from, stays 10" and under, not too aggressive.
Tank really looks great. You should enter it in tank of the month.

thank you. I used to have severum, really cool fish with a lot of beautiful colour. But I don't think that the combination of ancient predator oddballs with some more colourful fish would look good. If u have any other idea's, I would like to hear themHow about a severum? Lots of nice color morphs to choose from, stays 10" and under, not too aggressive.

The M.dayi only gets around 25cm at most. The ropefish are now around 30cm. So they won't get eaten. The knife fish never attacked any fish I had except for 2 black catfish that I got from a friend who bought them while it was still to cold to put them in his garden. So I guess he attacks everything that is black and the rest he ignores. If the M. Dayi or knife won't eat the rope fish as it gets larger I think you should get at least one more rope, if not 3. They are more comfortable and more active in groups of 3+. But I worry they'll become someone's snack so I'm hesitating a bit on that, too....
I like the Ctenopoma idea, too bad you can't find them as they're pretty cool fish.
Would the knife chase any black fish? Or just elongated fish? If it's not all black fish I'd recommend Paratilapia Polleni/çi.
Where do you live?
I'm fairly certain that there are smaller Dats that can live in that size tank for life. But I just have that info on a list of mine that I keep in fish that I'm interested in.I have no direct experience.
Maybe someone else can speak to that?[/QUOTE
