They don't need to be kept in pairs. Johanna are more on the aggressive side so have a plan b if it starts to attack your current fish. The attack might not happen in the first fews months.
hmm are they really so aggressive? cuz if thats so I don't wane take the risk. And most sites said that they become around 25-30cm. Most predator fish stay smaller then the sites say or just take freaking long to reach that size. Is that also with pikecichlids?

Females johanna should reach 30cm in about 3-4 years time. Males tend to be a bit longer by a few centimeters.

I have decided to just make the group of hejuta's larger and I will drop the idea of adding Johanna. The tank would get to crowded and it would be unsatisfying to see so much different species in my tank. I rather keep it a little less chaotic. I ordered 2 more hejuta's. So that will be a group of 3 hejuta's. I read that they are groupers but seriouslyfish said that they are only grouping while they are young while other sites say that they stay grouping for there whole lives. Anyone experience with this?

I just picked up 3 hejuta's . There was one problem at first my hejuta attacked the other ones. He is like 3cm bigger not big enough to eat them but still... So I gave him 2 neon tetra's and now he is just chilling with the others. Is there any possibility he will attack them again? Or will they now just group and be 'friends'

Hard to say for sure, your existing Hujeta has claimed the tank as it's territory, and saw the new guys are intruders, so that explains why he would attack. I would just keep an eye on them. If they seem fine now, hopefully it will stay that way.

they are swimming next to each other. so I guess its okay. Either way we will see tomorrow.

Luckily nothing happened last night. The 3 smaller ones are grouping and the bigger 1 is just swimming alone.

So all is well. They group together and I got the awesome tip of feeding white mosquitolarfs. It's working good the white mosquito's drive on the surface and they seem to love it. Can I feed them every two days? Or will this be to much?

I really want them to grow fast.

Today the new crenicichla will come in and I will remove 1 m.dayi because of the fights between them. I will post some pics when he is here so that u guys can help identifying. ;)

I keep having some problems with poop. It's not so annoying to remove every week but if it's not necessary I would like to not do it every week. Removing the wood and stones is quitte annoying. I read that adding more plants helps with breaking the poop down. Does that help a lot? Im thinking of adding a lot of Echinodorus argentinensis/motherplants.
