The Official Wolfmans tank thread

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Your cichla are fantastic ... making me want some. The ocellaris kinda reminds me of yellow perch that I fished for as a kid. It was always my favorite fish to catch, so beautiful.

Thanks I appreciate the kind words, I’m a big time fisherman and we have some good yellow perch here on Long Island, I love catching them pre spawn when there nice and fat.

That’s outstanding. Great job at keeping them alive. I’d say you have made it past the hardest part. It should just get easier to take care of them from here.

Do you know who the mother is? Assuming Hoover is papa?

Thanks I haven’t had any casualties since They lost their egg sacks, and they are just starting to take the first bites food, so pellets will be soon. I can’t chance having my brine shrimp crash. The parents are Hoover and Malcom. I didn’t realize Malcom was a girl , transgender fish lol. But the baby’s are going to be Ocellaris. I wish I would have seen them spawn, but theres always next time.

It’s been a wile since I last posted. I recently went vacation and had a friend looking after my fish. I had a close call and almost lost my fish. After a water change he forgot to run on the wave makers and the fish were gassing out at the top of the tank. Thankfully I had a web cam on the tank and saw it and he was able to get over there and turn on the wave makers.

The baby’s are doing well and I finally was able to get some good pictures of them with my dslr. I’ve had some loses and probably about 50% have made it.

Brilliant, I’m so glad you had the webcam in place. I just got back from a vacation as well, and had a bit of a close call on my 70 g grow out tank, but happened same day I got back. My brother in law was just talking to me about setting up web monitoring, this proves to me that it’s worthwhile. Plus you can show people your fish with out cleaning the house lol.

AAAAHHHHGGG! They are so cute, with those big giant eyes and small body’s and beginnings of stripes. I was just about to ask how they are doing. Have you figured out how to ship to Canada yet? I can’t wait to have some of Hoover’s offspring. Lol.

Great update. Thanks for keeping us posted
