Any updates
If you have a pair of ancistrus and want them to breed, you need a cave. You also have to condition the fish. Zucchini is great for getting ancistrus to spawn.Today (04/20/12) I added a pair of Bristlenose plecos (Ancistrus Dolichopterus), they aren't officially a formed pair, they are just a male and a female, they have never bred. I have had them in my 125g for a while, and thought I should try to get them to breed. Male is 8cm and female is 9cm.
Yeah, I'm not surprised judging on where you live. Where I live fish are much more expensive, ergo, guppies go for a higher price, even the ones that aren't of a pure strain.I find it hard to break even with guppies unless they are pure strain.
I've bred RedCherryShrimp and they are somewhat profitable but they breed so easily the whole city has been flooded with them and now can't give them away.
I've had Tropheus pay for themselves and some but probably wouldn't work in a 10g.
