The "Profit of 10 Gallons" project

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
wouldnt that 57$ you spent be expenses, not profit? you will have to make 57$ to break even.

the easiest way to make profit is to have a small tank outside or a large bucket of the sorts, keep some live plants in it and the fish will just eat bugs and whatever other gunk falls into the outdoor tank. no money on electricity because the sun is natural and the rain water = added water and the plants filter it.
-57$...

And not everybody lives in that kind of environment, in a bucket outside, the temperature would get very uneven, very soon. The heat/cold in iceland is very unstable. Actually just two days ago it was sunny and 15°C, and it dropped down to 1°C overnight and when I woke up there was snow outside...in may.
Plus the point of the project isn't really to do a lot of work around the tank and therefore get more income.. The point is to try to run a simple, stable tank and try to get some income. Plus this is a long term project. I won't even get close to breaking even in a few months.

it says NEGATIVE 57.... and i'm sure guppies would be thrilled outside in iceland lol
Well said.

they still need a heater....

and maybe they look a little sick cause the tank isnt cycled it just says you used water from a cycled tank.... that doesn't really mean anything the filter has to be cycled

either way this is really cool, post some pics soon I'm excited to see this!
The filter is also cycled, it has been used in years.

I just started a similar project. I'm using my 20 gallon long tank as a sump for my 50 gallon. I've been raising mosquito fish and decided to buy 3 fancy guppies from the petsmart. I got the yellow/black striped and spotted ones. They really make it look like a jungle with the bright colors.

If the guppies work out I'll be stocking some Amazon mollies with a sailfin molly male (since amazon mollies are an all female species).

I had guppies once I must be a failure with luck cause because They had 5 fry each had only 10 Fry! I watched em give birth so I counted '_'

For everyone the is having a hard time b/c the fry is being eating. Add some floating plants. Like water lerruce, butterfly fern or duckweed. this is how we keep our fry live in to we can get the in the to grow out tank.
