Would you mind if I used your pictures as examples for my class?

And you do it mostly by hand? What kind of wire do you use? And suggestions on what to avoid?

Go ahead, I'd be honored! Hopefully the kids don't get too ambitious. I'd love to see what they've done when they finish.

I suggest using gauges 14, 16, 18, 20. I mainly use 14 for the frame work and 20 for the detail sections, but the 14 gauge might be too stiff for some kids which is why I suggested the 16 and 18 gauge. I use the galvanized steel wire found in the Lowe's hardware section. It's cheap, durable, and comes in big coils! Thanks for the b-day wishes!

I am now 100% decided! I am DEFINETLY going to become a teacher! Its my calling and i now know it. Hell even tho im a young and inexperienced official i teach officials twice my age! I only want to pass on any knowledge i have, i've always respected and loved my teachers and now i know im meant to be one. I need to know what i should study as for as GE and then what to take for the actual teaching degree? Thanks ahead of the time for your help guys!

Congratulations, it's a noble choice. :)

I would recommend taking foreign language classes, being bilingual increases your job prospects enormously. Depending on which direction you plan on going with your teaching career you may want to major in sciences, psych, history, et cetera. - the undergrad degree is not as important as your teaching degree (at least not here in Oregon, as they require all new teachers to have a Master's degree). For your teaching degree you need to decide what age level you want to teach. I have my M.A.T. in "Early Childhood & Elementary". License requirements vary from state-to-state, so you probably want to talk to someone at a local university to find out the details.

Good Luck!

Dan - In Oregon they require a Masters?

Here in Cali you only need a BA and your credential, thou from what I hear now the credential work is akin to getting a Masters.

here in texas it BA + cred work. Cred work sucks though. I went though an alternative certification program that would have been easier to just suck it up and do my masters. Makes me wish I did that years ago.

Football, just find out what you need to teach in your state and ask your school the class track you need to take. i also recomend taking foriegn lang. particularly spanish, as it does make you more disirable. Depending on what subject you want to teach, you may also earn a stipend. You could also look at coaching postions that will earn you a little extra cash as well. Glad your making your decision to be a teacher early. I waited til my early midlife crises before finally making the decision. Love it.

Luckily since I work in a disciplinary school I don't deal with parent teacher conferences. I did miss my own daughters though!! Have it rescheduled. It is funney 'cause all I have to do is walk down the hall as her accelerated program is located in the same complex as my school. Did have a student threaten to "stick" me and another call me an a-hole, both about ten minutes ago. Fun times.

Yep. They will hire you with just a teaching certificate but you have to get your Master's within a certain time-period (I want to say three years?), so most people get it straight-away.

We had conferences a while ago, next ones aren't until next month.

This morning we went tree-tagging, I'll post some pictures later.

Hey Gr8, I hate to nit-pick, but shouldn't it be "The Teachers' Lounge"? (we are the country's last bastion of proper grammar, after all!) :)
