only if they don't want to help.

(Show me the wet/dry threads without a response. I'll help em out:))

True, but for people who just want to discuss a certain area like cichlids, Go to smaller But very in depth cichlid discussion forums.

The forums here are good for very basic discussion in most area's, but nothing more, we lack the seasoned member infestructure to keep area's afloat with such threads. MFK is good for "what to keep in my 55 threads".

The example i gave was purely an example and not a very thought out one at that.

.

I don't agree with that, but I'll leave that discussion for another time.

I kinda resent that.

I think MFK is on par if not better than any other non species specific fish forum. I'd like to know for curiousity sake what cichlid topic we couldn't keep afloat here due to lack of seasoned members compared to some other forum even a specialized one..

I'm not bashing MFK just adding my opinion.

For your question, i'll add the great debate of TGT's, Many members here believe they know all the answers about the fish, but from what i've read, they don't know the origin country of the fish. Let alone any complicated debate on the fish species.

MFK is good for many things, but very very specific details on different fish, No- the site is to vast to see informed opinions debated, they all get caught up in the little talk involving cichlids or any fish.

this is My 0.02, nothing more, nothing less

It's never boring here.....ever. If this entire site only discussed building tanks and keeping stingrays that would be enough for me. I don't even keep rays and haven't built a tank in over ten years. Oh yeah, every fish that I own is 7inches in length or less. It's just a great read, I don't care who ya are.

I know I miss things that I might be able to help with, just because I don't read every single thread. I like it when people just send me a pm, asking a question on a specific thing that I may know about.

I don't consider myself an expert, just a bored hobbyist with some experience. I'm just here to learn.

I havent been here too long but long enough to notice alot of great questions dont get answered at all. While alot of simple questions get attacked by a fury of 16 yr olds, who beat the pulp and commonsense out of the questions asked. One thing that bothers me about all forums in general, is the sheer amount of people with the most opinionated answers have alot to say and very little experience if any. Where as people who have alot to share with the world dont, probably because theyre so tired of debating with others. When stating theyre experience which often goes against the habitual so called norm. Forget what you've read, forget what happened that one time you tried it. Be open to possibilities and open to allowing others to share theyre EXPERIENCES. Almost everyone here is looking for advice and the best advice comes from an individuals experiences, not anything else. I have read so many opinions on here that go unfounded but are very well versed on the internet. I feel like I'm looking at lemmings, nobody tries to break the path. I have kept venustus with mbuna, I have kept CA's successfully with africans, I have put big communities in smaller than advised tanks for many years all examples with no death! it took years for me to learn, yes I learned the hard way but dont state facts as if you know when theyre not facts at all just general guidelines. I have had coloumbian 5 fin sharks live in .125 Salt water, I have taken the time to search for answers to other peoples questions in scientific resources I have bookmarked before answering because I also was intrigued to find out! rather than give the one guess I had off the top of my head. Either this site is too broad. Or people want to gain respect and look cool thru being opinionated or forums are like a trivia game and most people dont choose to go past theyre basic knowledge they already have, but somthing has to give. theyre are waay to many common opinionated answers to simple questions and waay to many good questions which we can all learn from, going unanswered. I already guessed how many people will respond to this negatively and not bring much else usefull to the table ie this forum

Did anyone else's dyslexia get the best of them while reading that. i think i went crosseyed.

well im just going to say ive been into reptiles for 13 years and when i started here i knew nothing about fish but thanks to every one on here i know alot so making the site smaller wont do anything for learning people rip into once and a while but its all in good fun if you can t take it go some where else

just my opinion, good morning every one, maybe now we can close this and move on to some thing more constructive, like answering questions.....
