look, we also need to make this point. when we first caught, we didnt realize he had 3 legs, we caught and brought him back to where we were keeping all of our stuff, i was looking for more turtles when fishyz called me and said, we need to keep this guy, he only has three legs. its not like we just said, theres a turtle with three legs, lets catch it and keep it, we caught it, examined it, noticed it had three legs and we felt that it needed a home. if it makes u guys that happy we'll return it.

Plus, if I where a turtle I would want out of that mudhole he used to live in.

If he didn't want to live in the mudhole, he would had gotten out of it and move to another pond. There such thing as microclimate and microenvironment.

Anyway if you guys want to keep it... go ahead. We can't tell you what to do. If you guys are just passing it on to someone else, why bother taking it?

dude don't let these guys get you donw. if you can take care of it, i dont see any reason not to. if i was in your shoes i prolly would have done the same thing..

theres also such a thing as, at least 5 miles to the nearest body of water, its a very isolated pond, a few roads going past it, a stream that leads nowhere, and some trees, so unless were gonna let a three-legged turtle take a 5 mile hike, well u get wat im saying

Well,
he was there for a reason - probably because he wanted to be there. Did you even think about that?

5 miles is nothing in the animal world. How do you think little things like newts colonise new bodies of water... Tiny little great crested newts can make it 20 miles or so... I think a turtle will easily manage 5 miles, and probably wouldn't take it that long.

I say let it go. It will probably be hard for him to adapt to a captive environment. I understand you guys just wanted to help but if you really have the turtles best interest in mind you'll release him where you found him. I'm not trying to be mean to you guys or anything, I used to do the same stuff when I was younger. Just thought I would share my opinion. Also, if you do decide to keep him PLEASE read up on their care and give him a proper home.
