Tigrinus Tips

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Looking real good.
Just one point, might want to look at angling that heater. Cats have a bad habit of sitting on top of them, and burning themselves.

yeah I had just moved it lower cause I was doing a WC, I definitely get lazy sometimes though ? he doesn’t usually swim around like that just during WCs

I’ve noticed my Tigrinus has been hitting the top water late at night, pretty hard too likes he hunting, but there’s only a leopard Pleco and a small Ansorgii with him. Is this odd?

He might be hunting the tank mates, especially if they are of the swallowable size..

the other fish are of similar size, I haven’t had a ton of success feeding him. He’s alive and growing so I think he’s eating something but I just don’t know what. I have a colony of bloodworms, ghost shrimp, and routinely toss pellets but I haven’t seen him eat them. I think he could be growing frustrated with his food options

Bloodworms? Or black worms?

If you have live worms and shrimp in the tank, it surely is hunting them at night. Shrimp swim away, so the tig must be jumping out of the water accidentally while chasing them.

Black worms, assuming the presence has caused him to dismiss pellets? Figured he’d be big enough to not bother at this point

Predators apparently will always prefer live vs dead. Many are willing to rather die than to wean onto dead feeds.
