IMG_2952.JPG As part of the moster tank agreement with my wife, ALL upstairs aquariums must go. Oscar, turtles, and stock taken by a pet store.

This 120 was STUCK to the stand! NEVER paint plywood three coats, maybe four, and think its dry the next day.

I broke the clamp in this photo, and its still stuck.

Well that sucks, try running a paint scraper along the edge of the tank rim and see if you can break the seal because it probably has created a vacume under the tank.

Good luck
Thomas

Take a chisel to it and just replace the plywood top on the stand.

Hammer, paint stripper and a paint scrapper. Hammer is not a tool that comes to mind when working on an aquarium. Finally got it separated

IMG_2960.JPG IMG_2961.JPG IMG_2964.JPG IMG_2965.JPG Last water fill. Next water change I will start planting. Decided on putting in three foreground planters and 3D sides.

Next water change, how to get 400+ gallons pH below 7 for my discus fish. Tap is 9+

Peat moss filter, buffer.

Do you ever have a problem with tannin when you use peat? I have used it in the past it's not a big deal but it always turns my water brown for a while.
Also where do you get the peat moss from? Do you buy for aquarium use or get your own from garden supply store?

I get it from a nursery. It is canadian peat with nothing added. I fill a small pillow case 9"x5" (aprox). I also fill the foot of the pantyhose and put then in my fluval filters. I have never had the water turn yellow brown because I am doing water changes 3x per week. Gets the pH down to 6.5

IMG_2985.JPG IMG_2986.JPG Wow, it actually worked. Laundry basket filled with peat. pH before was off the chart. Post filter 6.5. Water is still cloudy but I am going to go for it.
