torn on my handgun option

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
10mm has crossed my mind before. I just am not sure of any that come left handed. Anyone know of one? Is the sig left handed?

Honostly, I dont know. Im sure you can prob get the kimber ambidextris.

i'll look at some of the kimbers and the xds. i just have a feeling that the xds will be small. i know of a shop close to me were i can rent the guns and shoot them. i'll have to run down and do some shooting....

so i went to the store today with the contents of the pic to get myself the xdm .45 and i forgot i needed a permit to buy:swear: so now it is another week of waiting for them to process my permit application before i can get it:irked:

i tried the glock again, felt the same problem. i also looked at the m&p 40 and liked it so i may have to buy one of them also.

If your set on XDm, go with the 9mm. 40 offers almost no advantage over the 9mm(except a mild increase in barrier penetration, which doesnt affect most of us) costs more and has less capacity. 45 costs even more(even to reload) and has even less capacity. the XDm in 9 can carry 19+1. Win!
Look at youtube 9mm vs. 40sw there is a huge difference in penetration and leaves a much bigger exit whole and there is not much difference with the capacity you get 3 rounds more with a 9mm big deal. Only difference is the cost per round (which he is reloading so it won't cost as much). If I'm not mistaken the xdm has kits our something where you can change the caliper of your gun...but thats a few hundred per kit.

Glock gen4 back straps can be changed. I will be getting G23 and already have G17. Will be getting a G30sf in the future.

There is very little difference in penetration and almost identical sized exit wounds. How do you figure a slightly heavier round makes a much bigger hole? The 40 is 1mm larger than the 9. Thats it. Standard rounds are only slightly heavier and are typically slower. So yeah no advantage 40 over 9mm for the standard person. Ill take my cheaper shooting and extra rounds

I was going by the videos I watched. People shooting a 9mm into a pig and then a 40 both hollow points and the 40 had a mush bigger hole. Also people shooting bulistics jell the 40 would penetrate farther and leave more eternal damage than the 9mm. I'm no gun expert or nothing just relaying the info I seen. How much longer its the 40 to the 9?

They are almost identical length. It comes down to which load you use. The 40 just isnt better enough excluding shooting through car doors and such, to justify the excess cost.

Right, it comes down to how your going to use it, shooting range 9mm all day cheaper ammo...but on your chart you posted you can see the reason why I choose 40 over 9..the enteral damage. We could sit here and go back and fourth all day I'm sure lol ask you ned to protect yourself is something that will shoot. If we went on a fishing trip up where there are bears all I would need is a 22
