Tropical Biotope ?'s

Oh and to answer your question about the chams eating frogs. I wouldnt put it past them I knw as they get older they will eat what ever they think they can manage and asthey get older have even been known to be canabalistic.

thank you logo! i am definitely going to be researching a ton before i give this a try. and i always have empty cages so if somebody needs to be seperated it won't be a problem.
i hadn't even thought about the nocturnal diurnal part yet, very good point, thats another restriction and dimension to the whole thing.
i hate guppies so much! idk what it is. but they will definitely be part of it only because they will have lots of babies. also there will be lots of the dwarf aquatic frogs, gouramis, paradise and some sort of tetras, probably buenos ares. if i decide not to have any smaller diurnal terrestrial species i will go with better fish like eels, stingrays, aros etc. i would really like to fill the nocturnal niche partly with redeyes because they almost dissapear during the day, lessening the chance of them having a problem with a diurnal species. obviously the roaches will be part of the nocturnal group but i think i will also give house geckos a try. for the diurnals some anoles to start then try some walking sticks and see if then can really live up to their rep.
i understand that there will most likely be failures along the way with this project and will prepare for them as best i can. that being said i also feel strongly about properly caring for our herps and being responsible keepers, so in no way will i half *** this project and try anything stupid.
to start:
lobster cockroaches
2 or 3 redeye tree frogs
2 or 3 of each bahama anoles and green anoles
think thats a good start?

I would say no to mixing red eyes and anoles.
Different humidity requirements and the risk of passing diseases is too great.

Frogs dont mix well with other animals.

Can't you just find one animal you like and build the tank around that animals needs?

Veileds and pygmies need two completely different requirements. Way different foods and lights as well.

as an open air and misted cage there will be great humidity variables inside so that shouldn't be a problem. what diseases can an anphipian get from a reptile, or the other way around. they will be thouroughly quarantined before being introduced into the main setup so why is there more of a disease risk with adding anoles to the equation.

99% of anoles are WC.

Alot of the parasites that can be tested for can happen in both amphibs and reptiles.

red eyes are a sensitive frog and should not be mixed at all.

I'm not a big expert on herps, nor the bigger monsters (Aros/Rays), but I'm pretty sure that a bigger predatory fish such as Aros would feed on anything that accidentally fell into the water. I think if I were you, I'd stick with the smaller community fish for your biotope.

Also, it's just that, a biotope, so be sure to try to stick with creatures all from the same area. This might be the only way to have any success in this venture. I think it's a great idea and I do wish you well and hope that it works out, but i think that mixing species from different geographic areas is going to give you your biggest problems. Since they all have different ecological backgrounds, it will be tough for the entire ecosystem to be in harmony. Again, good luck and keep us updated with your results!
