Trouble identifying new catfish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Great job, OP, in identifying your fish correctly from the get-go!

I am late and having nothing of substance to add. All the info above agrees with me.

Nemurus. Albino (never seen any other). As the fish matures it usually takes on the yellowish coloration. IDK what this means. It happens seemingly with all keepers.

The thread on our nemurus: https://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/threads/farm-boy-nemurus-stuck-at-1-for-4-years.679720/

How is your pair doing, Justin??

Why don't we mention him?

IDK either. I think and hope it was but a friendly dig under Vincent :)

I Too thought it was usually xanthic. But I suppose it could be albino and the red eyes are just hard to see the red in. Probably even easier to deceive us through pictures at that.

Yes I was wondering if it was a xanthix or maybe even a leucistic?? I apologise if I’m wrong, but aren’t wyckiis extremely aggressive? After observing my new cat, in no way is it aggressive. It has a very calm temperament. It hasn’t torn apart my tank lol and I also had a couple of albino iridescent sharks that were maybe 2”. While one died, the other ones still living and it seems as though the catfish has no interest in killing off that fish. The shark swims right past the catfish constantly and the catfish doesn’t even care.
I have the exact same albino Asian redtail cat seems to be a very rare fish I haven’t seen one since I got mine 5 years ago he is about 16 inches and has grown very slow. Mine has never been aggressive towards any fish even small oscars. Its been a great low maintenance fish and has been with me through three moves great species of fish and I would love to have another! I currently have him in a 265 with small bass, redtail cat, redtail hybrid, ornatipinnis bicher, a channel cat and a albino channel cat. All over a foot excluding the bass

Welcome to the MFK!

Nice info you laid out. Thank you. If I may propose, it'd serve you and everyone else better if you started your own thread on your fish and provided some visuals and came back to update it regularly throughout the fish's life with you to report anything interesting or noteworthy or to even just share the fish visuals again through the years. That would be the best IMHO.

Sounds good new to the site. Tanks at my friends house while I’m off in college so I don’t have any pics at the moment I’ll be sure to show off some of my other tanks when I get the chance.
