URGENT: What's wrong with our lsn?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks! My brother will be getting the feeders every couple of days so there won't be a ton in there at a time. When he was bad sick the feeders picked on him so want to make sure that doesn't happen again. He'll also be trying pellets (very little...unless he chows down on them lol) while we're gone to see if there's any interest. I hate that we have to leave right now but will definitely be checkin in often to see how the little guy is doing.

Thanks for the compliment on our boy. He's a rotten mess!! We also have a 7.5 year old brindle female and have owned/fostered many others over the years. They're such awesome dogs but it does suck about their life span...although I hope my girl lives forever, she's my heart :) we have a Jack Russell too who just turned 11 and still crazy as ever lol She's the boss over the big guys for sure!! All 12 lbs of her :P

Thanks as always for the info guys!! Glad I joined this forum :)

Well, he's still kicking! Still will only eat live fish but as long as he's eating something we're okay with that for now. He's still very thin but may be starting to gain a little...hard to tell. Think he's going to make it :) Just gotta get some weight back on him so we can move him back to the 150

I'm very happy to hear/see it doing much better. I agree with getting it off feeders ASAP especially if they have not been QTed. For now as long as it's eatting let it eat. To be on the safe side you might want to run a course of Prazi or maybe API General Cure before putting it back into the main tank. Make sure there are no bugs inside him. The 3x took care of the speicimia but an IP treatment wouldn't hurt now.

Great advising, Aquanero! I will definitely incorporate 3X sulfa in my arsenal now. Never knew it fights septicemia.

3x sulfa is a very old drug that when used in the right way in the correct conditions is very useful. It is often over looked by many aquariest, it's mild, doesn't destroy BB, very diffacult to overdose, it can be combined with several other drugs to enhance their usefulness and bacteria can't build up a resistance to it. It's not a super drug and there are other better choices for some things but in this case with the fish being very weakened I didn't want to use anything too harsh and stress it out too much. There are a lot of factures to consider when deciding what to use.

BTW OP Great looking Dane!

+1 This was well worth the read.

And congrats on bringing your LSN back from the brink of death!

Thanks again for all the info!! And the compliment on our Dane boy ;)

Can I get the Prazi and/or General Cure at PetSmart or Petco (about all we have around here)? Will pick some up. Want to see him fat and healthy before adding him back to the 150 so it may be a bit yet but he's definitely on his way now :)

Yes API General Cure for sure PraziPro should be available as well. The GC might be a better choice since it combines Metro and Prazi but which ever is available can be used. GL

this was a great read and glad to see the fish is getting better!

great advice from Aquanero, i will now be adding triple sulfa to the list of things to have on hand in the cupboard in case of emergencies
