Waitress messed up my Bank Acct!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
How is being jobless stopping him from using the credit card. That makes no sense. If anything it would give him extra days compared to his debit card. If she froze the CC then he would still have his debit card to get gas.

It is sad that people lose their job for one mistake. Even the best people make mistakes from time to time.

It doesn't matter if she has done this before or not, it is not going to change what happened. She said she was sorry when it happened. It is not like she planned it and knew you would be stuck all weekend.

Maybe another customer who wanted something distracted her, or an order came in the window so she went to drop it off before it got cold. Perhaps many things happened because another customer thought they were the most important person and was giving her a hard time. Who knows... I understand you are frustrated, but it happens. Once my bank made a mistake and I got 15 over draft fees take out of my account for a total of 19.00 dollars of purchases. That 19.00 costs over 400 in fees. Most of the situation was taken care of, but it ruined my weekend. I have to wait until Monday to go in and get it fixed. I was without a job "while student teaching my college refuses to let you work if they find out they fail you for the class". My weekend sucked. I know found out the bank is under lawsuit for charging in ways that cause over draft fees. I talked to the bank and only had to repay plus like 70 at the time. I doubt I will ever get the money back, but oh well nothing you can do now. At least the waitress what not doing it on purpose.

Well, being jobless usually means that money is short and if the money is not there when that balance comes due then the person gets behind due to late fees and more money will be owed....That's the point that I was trying to make but the whole credit card deal is kind of moot here because one was not used in this situation.People keep harping on using credit cards....one wasn't used and that's that.

mike dunagan/Moderator : Now, what person in their right mind would use a credit card while being UNEMPLOYED? If I didn't have the $$$ in my bank acct I wouldn't have been spending it! I DON'T SPEND WHAT I DON'T HAVE. Not everyone has a savings acct, not everyone has a CC! ( And FYI = I'm NOT a guy, not even close ! ! ! )

She used a debt card, so obviously she (sorry) had the money. If she had one, she could have still gotten gas over the weekend while waiting for the bank to unfreeze the debt card. It makes perfect sense. The account would be unfrozen before her bill was due.

That is part of the problem, I am saying you should have a credit card for emergencies (like when your debt card is frozen) I never said you did not have the money. Having a credit does not mean you are spending money you do not have. You would be surprise how many really have no bank accounts at all. They do not trust them, so instead they spend their hard earned money at cash checking places. Economic education is kind of a passion of mine. CC have a bad name because some people have abused them. Again many economists recommend having credit cards. The ones you do not, think people are not smart enough to have them. If you had a credit card this situation would have been a have to go to the bank to sort out an issue, man it sucks to have to waste 15 minutes, instead of the horrible situation it turned into. I would recommend getting a credit card in the future.

Oh, and btw, WI is stupid this way, but if you have a lay-off for an 'un-determined' amount of time, are fired or job loss becuase of factory closing, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR CONTACTING CC COMPANY AND NOTIFY THEM ! Now, who in their right mind would do that?, not sure. My factory closed and moved L S & B to overseas, (won't mention where). I didn't notify my CC company, but I stopped using it.

Right, that money is in the checking account or wherever....doesn't mean that any money will be in her account when the credit card bill is due to be paid.

By your statement no loans should ever be given out nor should anyone ever use a credit card. Come on.

I didn't say any of that but I surely would not be using a credit card if I were unemployed and didn't know where the money would come from to pay the monthly bill.
