internships=experience

I agree 100%

it also equals connections.

Internships during college years are one ofthe best things you can do to get your career off the ground.

Unfortunately, I never had the opportunity. I have been working for my fathers company for the past 10 years, it was/is a startup company.

I am planning on milking that for all its worth.

Just do public accounting. That will bring bucks for sure. To be admitted to a public accounting firm, do not go to their job fairs. Because there is way too much competition from fellow students or recent graduates. What you do is you patrol the online classifieds and look for ads that says "Company Confidential." That's what the big companies are doing nowadays. That's how my GF got her job and she is pulling very descent money. There are months when you have a bunch of overtime but you get more pay as well.

I'm not sure if Economics or Business Economics will work though.

I have Political Science degree from UCLA and its worth nothing where I am working because I work in a chemical manufacturing plant. Although its a good thing that I took a minor in Environmental Systems. Pay is excellent for a recent graduate but considering that I will be working for the company for almost 3 years, I should definitely be making what I am making, maybe more. I am thinking getting an MS in Occupational Health and Safety Concentration in Environmental Science and in the manufacturing, chemical, or general industry field, that rakes a lot of moolah. The fact that I like what I am doing is an added bonus.

Many people down here in South Texas have no college degree, I have a 4 year BA in Business Administration, started out at a bank right after school, went into LE, then back into banking as an investigator.

You live in a college enviroment, you get away from there you find many people have no college at all.

Banks are hard as hell to get into around here. Trust me, I tried. BA in Management.

I finally had to break down and go through a temp agency. They managed to land the perfect job for me (or at least the interview). I got the job cause I'm brilliant :naughty:

Good luck man :D

Thanks guys. I think I am just gonna go to these upcoming job fairs, and see what I can find. From what I have heard and researched, I should expect to pull in around mid 40s per year starting out. Not bad at all, esp b/c I am moving in with a friend, at 600 a month, utilities included....

Mid 40's per year is not descent, its way better than descent for a recent graduate.

Yup. I am thrilled. It is one of the highest paying degrees.

Now all I need is a job.

Yeah but when you're a recent graduate, or in school you have big hopes and big dreams.. At least dreams of being able to afford a modest apartment and pay back all your school loans..

Mid 40's is good for a recent graduate but one has to take into account regional housing costs. In D.C. you might be scraping by with that salary I think. But you gotta start somewhere.

Before I started being happy about my 40 grand, I would secure the job first.
