Wow amazing group here. I had always wondered if peppers were too acidic to feed, good to know that you can feed them. Also great idea with the skewer.

Thank you. The peppers don't seem to be everyone's liking but they do get eaten. I've got an L090 who seems to appreciate those more than the others. I never really gave any thought to acidity. I probably should have. I do give various fruits like strawberries, grapes and kiwi on occasion though and haven't had any issues.

The metal kabob skewers work great! If I get more, I'd probably try to find heavier weight ones. If I use large piece of cucumber or zucchini they can be too buoyant and won't stay all the way down. If you add some denser food on them as well that usually does the trick too.

That’s a good idea. I just use forks from the 99 cent store.

To get mine to sink I squeeze all the air bubbles out, but mine are on pumpkin cuz they are small and its the season. I just blanch it then freeze it and break it off when I need it.

It means a short boil. Not a full boil to cook completely.
It makes veggies softer and easier for fish to eat. Also helps them sink easier.

I just caught my big L190 chewing on some cholla I put in the tank last month. Until today, it hasn’t been touched at all.

I never blanch anything, I feel like it breaks down too quickly. Just raw and crunchy. If a royal can eat wood I cant see why anything needs to be soft.

And coincidentally, I looked into the tank the small L191 is in and saw it rasping on some cholla too! There’s a lot more marks on this piece so it’s probably eating it when the lights go out.
