Freedom isnt Free, No theres a Hefty 'effin Fee!

:clap Here Spank this is for you for the effort put forth in that post. Lots of work there.
However, I do not agree with the tone of your posts, for I find them to be accusatory and purposefully demeaning. But, then again maybe your perceiving us or me or just him doing the same thing, but I thought I should share that.

Anyway, good info there so here is the question. Most countries have a name that is "given" to their inhabitants so that they can identify themselves with their country. Canada=Canadian, Mexico=Mexican, Russia=Russian, China=Chinese.
My question to you is, what would you have us call ourselves? You are arguing to take away American, so what do we do? Should we always say, "I am a citizen of the United States of America?" When asked do you say you are a citizen of Canada? Why is it that we need to lose our identifying name? Why is it that our country would seem to be the one country that looses this right, or I guess privilege? This has been my question all along, if I can not call myself an American, what do you think I should call myself?

You know, sometimes you come off as so sweet it imposable to stay mad at you.
I am working on an answer.
But since you asked so nicely I want to take the time to get it right.
And edit it enough so I can be nice too.
I'll get back to you.

United Statesian sounds pretty lame too, it's a mouthful.

I know!!!! I was not expecting a 12 page thread! Feel free to keep posting though, there are some very interesting views on here.

Here's my thesis as of now;
"Freedom is the freedom to decide what freedom means."
If you think about it, it's the dear truth. We get to decide what our freedoms are, though not directly, but through elections and higher officials.

BTW, D_P I think you have drawn a very good conclusion on this, and are left with a thesis that should be as good as if not the best of your class.

I would tweak the wording a little but the premise is very good.

Aww you guys are so cute...

you guys get too worked up over silly labels. you are whatever country you were born in. hence, i was born in the USA, so im American. you were born in Canada, you're Canadian. Mexico, Mexican.

really isnt that hard when you think about it. if somebody in another country on this side of the world gets butt hurt that we call ourselves American, then get your butt into the USA and become a citizen so you can call yourself American too. simple, and no arguing necessary

 time to go have a beer
