if cichla are cichlids
does that mean a large mouth bass in my pond are cichlids or are pbass and large mouth bass not related ?
Not related at all sir.

I predict the poster will be hooked in the near future. He just has to discover the species that appeals to him....Peacock is just their common name and as Hayn said, they are not related to the true bass.

I just wish they stayed smaller....Waiting for a 12" variety!!

A simple question of "Why do you like Cichla" would have been a good question and would have gotten a lot of responses and or even picture of why we like them.

But, the way you stated your first post wasn't really tactical and could of have been read in many different ways.

Cichla are Cichlids.

That's just like saying "I like midgets, But not the short ones".

:ROFL:Siged, My dream is to have a 250g Cichla collection right next to a 250g reef..Some day.

Not related at all sir.
Well, that's not entirely true. They're both perciform fish :D

Personally, I didn't care much for Pbass. Then I got a pair of big Azuls for a small fraction of what they're worth and my attitude has changed lol. Cool fish.

Although I think the green/gold species are cool, my fav are the Tems and Azuls. I suppose I was never really into them as Pbass are "normal fish" shaped. I'm not one to critique, my buddies have a term "Simon-fish" to describe the bulk or my collection, which generally means it looks like a drab coloured penis (lungfish, bichir, bowfin, etc).

There are many species of fish on this forum that I don't care for but draw huge crowds. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You don't have to like every fish on MFK. the ones you don't like, someone else will. Just stick with what you like and go MONSTER!

I really HATE them! I just have my cichla collection so I can just hang out in MFK Peacock Bass sub forum with all my friends...

:ROFL:Love your Avatar-Time for some Vandamage!!!

as noted previously... there personality and character are great, coloration is striking and well there a blast to watch eat either live or prepared foods. Ive Owned numerous throughout the years and had gotten out for probably 2 years but...when you have owned them in the past you cant just have a freshwater tank with out some in it... But to each there own.
