honestly having ownd cichla, there really arent any other fish like them. IMO

I had (3) orinos (1) mono (1) kelberi (1) occel and (1) tem until i woke up to them one morning all dead... sold everything within a week and a year later am just now getting back into fish. starting with a Clown Loach and Dat combo. but when i get a 240+ will DEFINATELY be getting my cichla collection back

how did all your fish die??

I've seen lots of Pbass in person and still can't talk myself into liking them. I tend to gravitate toward brown pokey fish, black and blue sparkly fish or most any catfish. It's just a matter of taste. I don't expect every fishkeeper to rave and rant about every fish in my tanks and album. We all have different reactions to a given fish. I see spikes, spines, feelers, fin extensions and barbels and go nuts. Show me a bloated yellow fish that looks stoned and I'm going to politely mention its good health or perhaps a pattern I see, ask what it eats, etc., but I'll just never love the thing.

Still, power to you Pbass keepers! Love the tems and azuls out there!

the poster probably goes into every forum telling people he doesn't like their fish.
Naw, Just this one so far. It's fine, the OP has the right to his opinion. He can like them or not. But, all is good. MAYBE, the OP was trying to get pictures out of the Cichla guys to convince him to keep cichla (maybe). We are not here to flame anyone that doesn't like them.

I was also curious to see what traits people mentioned to defend their Pbass decisions...

...But too many people here are flaming the OP for asking in the most relevant place on this forum. It's not a media lounge, it's a sub-forum for people to ask questions about and discuss Cichla. Why would the OP ask people who didn't like or own Cichla?

Plus the mods would have just moved it here.

I don't see anything wrong with the question. He could have worded it better but it's nothing to get upset about.
I like cichla for their size, colour and shape. They are beautiful to look at. Also I love their power. They shoot effortlessly through the water and the way they eat is amazing to watch.
Another thing that I like about them that puts them above other large cichlids is the fact that they do incredibly well in groups. I'm also very fond of the parachromis genus but you couldn't keep them in a mixed group. They interact with each other very well and live as a pack. Finally one thing that I know a lot of my fellow cichla friends love is the variety within the genus. There are loads of cichla species and a number of variations or locales in each species so there is always something different out there.

If this doesn't explain it here's a video of my pbass to demonstrate why I keep them.
