What is your favorite African Cichlid?

Definitely a predator. I think they lay down on the substrate like their dead to ambush smaller Cichlids that swim by.

My favorite that I have is a deep water Hap or my Malawi barracuda . My favorite that I want to get is any Buccochromis or a Malawi Trout

It has to be either Neolamprologus Multifasciatus or Neolamprologus Brichardi. Probably because these were the first two fish I have gotten to breed, Brichardi being the first. Just how they allow colonization and behavior in general I find quite interesting.

The entire melanochromis genus, especially kaskazini, loriae, and lepidiadaptes which tend to be more peaceful than your run of the mill auratus and chipokae. I just like the way they swim . And these 3 cichlids are all lookers, even for the mbuna.

My favourite is Tyrannochromis Nigriventer for all the ones i had over the years. Second place would be Placidochromis Phenochilus Tanzania with Exocochromis Anagenys in 3rd in my All time list. lol.
