I think Im gonna like this one even better than the 57...
do an iwagumi with a **** load of CRS and CBS.

thanks! i have bad luck with shrimp though. bought a few amanos and they all climbed out of my tank. my RCS i had before slowly died off. i hate wasting money on damn shrimp! im thinking of a look like this for the tank

looks so great in that space--do you know what fish you'll do? big school of pearl danios would be cool

thanks, not sure yet. might move over the rummynose tetras from my 57g into this tank. they look too small compared to the other fish

Marineland LED Double Bright Lighting System would look super sleek on that tank...

haha i dont think im ready for a reef yet! and yes, ive seen that video before. that tank and Amano's monster planted tank are the two best tanks i have ever seen. absolutely gorgeous!

as for that LED fixture, it's very dim. not bright enough to grow plants. they do look sleek though

That reef tank is gorgeous, I think you would really enjoy trying a reef tank if you havent already. That said im excited to see what you'll do with an iwagumi :headbang2

Yet another impulse buy :nilly:

went to my LFS and picked up this little tank ive been eyeballing for quite some time. 18" rimless cube, 23g. got it with the stand for $119. they carry a lot of different sizes, but this was the last one they had in stock, and the size seemed just about right for what a i want to do next. thinking of an iwagumi layout...lots of rockwork, maybe a dwarf hairgrass foreground and a taller background plant. who knows. this will be a slow project since i have the other tank to keep me busy, and broke!

plus since it's 18", gotta think about what im gonna do with the lighting. smallest T5HO fixtures out there are 24". so if i hang it, it will overlap 3" on each side. we'll see. for now...

another planted i can be jealous of?

To keep costs down you could do an experiment and see what results you can achieve with it as a low tech set up.

you gunna get another monster tank to replace the 405 or chilll out for awhile?

How about 3 rocks and a carpet of HC, like every other iwagumi?

A 70W metal halide pendant would work well.

i take it you dont like iwagumi layouts?? and yeah i was thinking about the 70w mh fixture from fishneedit.com. i have no idea how it should be though since i havent seen much PAR data on halides. any ideas on height for a medium-high light setup?

I was thinking MH Pendant as well.

LED's aren't bright enough in general, or for that tank?

pea puffers.
