50k hours is what they are warrentied for but from a purely theoretical standpoint a LED will be able to run for ever and never burn out theres simply nothing to burn out. some LED's made ages ago are starting to dim now (20-30 years later) but modern LED's may be able to last forever we'll just have to wait and see.O2surplus;4410452; said:Check out DIY LED lighting. You could easily build an LED pendant lamp with tight optics that will outperform a 250 metal halide. 24 Cree XPG R5's will provide more than enough PAR to grow anything you want in that tank. You'll get the shimmer effect of a metal halide, none of the associated heat, and the lamp should run for 50k hours minimum before needing replacement.
