What's this? Another planted tank????

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
MH would be killer! It penetrates better than flourescents due to the beam angle, so PAR at the substrate shouldn't really be the issue... I think you should try the floating island!--
EDIT: NO this is not my tank. I wish!

i take it you dont like iwagumi layouts??

Only the ones with 3 rocks and an HC carpet, which unfortunately is a lot of them.

not too much, just sitting gathering dust in the living room. im tossing around ideas for plumbing though. think im gonna run my extra Cascade 1500 canister, a Cerges-style external reactor, DIY inline heater module, 5lb tank (somewhere outside the cabinet) and a my custom built dual stage Air Products regulator.

trying to keep all equipment out of the tank besides the inlet/outlet for the filters. no heaters, no diffusor, nohting

I also prefer the "dutch" style aquarium to the iwagumis...the iwagumies just look like...I dont know. A hill or something. Being a diver the dutch styles look like nature, and thats what I try to go for in my tanks.

i like a mixture of the dutch and nature styles, which is what im trying to do in the 57g. dutch style may be a little difficult in this tiny tank. who knows, i may end up changing my mind.

the one thing i dont like about iwagumi is doesnt look good with a black background. you either need no backgroud or a white/blue color to make it look right, which i dont really like the idea of...

While you're deliberating you could experiment with the results you can achieve through a low tech setup. Just saying. :P
