Nic FTW!! :headbang2

Excellent Dovii....this is why I plan to get a Nic in the future along with my Costa Rican. There are some not so good looking of both IMO....although I love the coloring of both Dovii what really attracted me to this species is the interaction and personality that these fish are known for. Do you happen to know how far yours is from the wild.....if it's not a F0?

Here is one of my two Costa-Rican breeding pair

The male is now 12 inches (maybe 13). On this picture he was 10 or 11 inches

Lots of people keeping dovii, but not a lot of large specimens. Tough to tell the difference when you compare a 9" specimen with a 20" specimen.

(That didn't sound right!)

Mines are only 2 years old. Maybe in 2 or 3 years :-)

Branch, my CR male looks just like your second picture. Good looking fish! It'll be interesting to see how he compares to my much bigger Nic.
I'm just workin on a video of them with there fry. It will be ready in about an hour. Until there you still always watch theme on my live webcam. They are on cam 2 (the link is in my signature)

I just found wigglers in with my nics.

That's what I've been thinking...the 8 year old mature males look stunning. All I know is the huge Nics look Bad ass. You don't seem to see many 20" Costa Rican....or Dovii for that matter. I know my male seems to change every few weeks anymore.....I'm hoping he looks like a killer when he reaches 15+". Nice lookin Dovii everyone....there seems to be a good variety even within the two collection areas posted or they change dramatically from 5" all the way up to 20". I expected them to get there mature colors by the time they reach 12"..... ?

Dovi may get "mature colors" at a smaller size but the body change in a big dovi are what makes big dovis so impressive. The big bulky dovis are what make them beautiful.

That means 5 or 6 year old fish, no way to get that in younger fish
