Have you tried doing fin levelish w's ? Seems easier to maintain lower nitrate levels for me
I have a pump mounted in the stand, and the pvc it's connected to is only 8-10" in the tank, so I'm only able to do %30 water changes.

Then have it extended, it can't be impossible.
I move 130+ gallons of water a week by bucket so extending a pipe can't be impossible.

50-70% change on every tank

Could possibly add a coupler or an elbow along with a new length of pipe. Depending on how its run

I've been meaning to do that for a while, but I've been busy with other projects.
Lol i know you have. Screw the wc's the other projects are more beneficial.....to me lol

I didn't do my WC due to camping. Now i have a 24hr movie marathon with friends this weekend. Ugh none of my tanks test above 20 nitratre so I may underfeed. Will be a different story with polys lol

xraycer xraycer , what got me into polys was my ornate. I thought he looked cool cause of the bright coloration and that he looked like a dragon. Well, it was the personality that sold me. Personally I like the active polys more and would prefer not to only keep driftwood in the tank lol. Well my ornate did like to rest, but was very active and friendly:

-he would watch us from the side of the tank whenever people were in the kitchen.
- he would play in and swim through the bubble strip stream
-he would wedge himself in weird positions: hang from plants, do the plank challenge behind the filter, rest on leaves,
-got along well with my cichlids. All though he would follow them and nudge them sometimes lol
- would play hide and seek with me as he looked out from his hide areas
-would get excited every time I came by the tank, and flutter his yellow and black pec fins. And swim up and down
- would explore the tank. and zoom around from place to place. Or coast around. How they swim is pretty adorable.
