Wild ‘Columbia’ Oscars

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah your going to have to keep all of them lol

They look great

Probably wont be able to keep them all, they are proving to be aggressive toward each other.

The largest (#1) is going at the smallest (#2). My favorite (#3) seems to be doing well with no torn fins and able to stand up to the largest Oscar. I think I might stop by the store today to add some dithers. Maybe some mollies since these are the largest livebearers the stores in my area have and maybe a group of tetras or barbs of some sort. Or maybe some Australian Rainbows or something like that.

I think some thing that occupies the same areas as the little Oscars would be better. Maybe Rosy barbs or something that hangs out near the bottom would be better than say giant danios that hangout near the surface

My thought was rosy barbs because thats usually what Petsmart has for a decent price. These are pretty expendable dithers so I dont want to spend too much on them. The other thought was black skirt tetras. Just cheap fish that could take a little chasing.

Or I could add a gold severum, green terror, Jack Dempsey, convict.... lol

Having never raised little Oscar like this... Does anybody know when I should see the eye spot on the tail starting to show?

Toni's was kinda muted when I got her but it was there. Juan's was in full force when I got him, really the only orange on him.

Juan at that point looks considerably bigger than what my little guys are at. I would guess at least 2.5" by the looks of it. I would say mine have grown for sure but maybe they are about an 1/8" larger than when I got them. So maybe they are about 1 5/8" now with a little meat on them. Im thinking It will be a few weeks still before I see the eye spots on these guys.

Went to Petsmart and looked for dithers... decided on 5 gold skirts and an eclipse cat. The oscars perked up and went at the skirts. Hopefully this draws attention from each other.
