First post! I used to be a member at predatoryfish. It has been awhile since I have kept fish, I just got a few RBP the other day. The last time I kept RBP's I had one that got picked on all the time, one time I came home and he was missing half his face! I seperated him and he healed up fine minus the eye, so since he had a blind spot I kept him seperate and he was just fine for a few more years before I gave him away. As long as no vitals were removed I would say he will be fine.

Wow, someone actually wanted your one eyed piranha? For some reason that surprises me. I assumed everybody wants the perfect looking fish.

yeah, it was my dad. i just needed him to be away from the others once they got bigger, he was much smaller since he only had one eye and was a little slower at getting to the food, so rather than let him end up a 'feeder fish' he lived out a happy life by himself

not a piranha but it's the best illustration I could find. Not sure where these landmarks are on pygos. i tried to look it up but I can't find it. If this guy dies you should dissect him and take pics so we know more about what's on the inside.

Depending on where these things are on your P he could have an array of problems. If he lost some liver he may make it for a while ,since he doesn't seem to have bled out, and then die younger than he would have, or it could regenerate. I don't know much about how that works with P's, and it depends on how much he lost. One things for sure, if he lost some liver mass, he'll be much more susceptible to poor water quality, as he won't be able to filter the NH4 out. The fact that he didn't bleed to death means it's not very likely his liver was involved.

Not sure what P's use the gall bladder for, but if he lost that, he may be alright, but if it does something similar to a humans then he won't be able to digest lipids very well. No fatty foods.

I was just watching dirty jobs and how they raise bass and carps and talipia at fish farms. Nice that we're feeding our Ps crap eating talipia.
