Workout Here We Go!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well have been eating healthier since i started the diet, and eating less.

I will be updating daily from now on, i had some things i needed to deal with the past few days...

Yesterday i worked out for and hour and today as well..

I am now down to 277 lbs and have gained a bit of muscle. So ive pretty much lost 2 lbs of fat which goes a long way. I might not lose weight all that fast now since i am keeping up with my strength exercises daily and eating protein. As someone stated above, its easier to gain muscle mass at my weight than when i lose it off...

So my goals might change to losing just 5-10 lbs of fat a month. Not a big deal and in no hurry, remember this is a lifestyle change and the longer i can keep up with the program the more it will stick to me!

Well ill update later tonight on the food!

You can't determine a loss of fat vs loss of muscle through weight alone. If your muscles feel larger or seem bigger, it's not muscle mass gain, but rather built up tissue and blood in the muscle itself. I don't think you have gained muscle in just a few days. You may notice it is a bit more firm or stronger than before, but that's not gaining muscle. More like waking it up.

It's not "its easier to gain muscle mass at my weight than when i lose it off" as they are equal. Your body is your body, and your ability to build up muscle shouldn't be a concern when it's low body fat or high body fat. I guarantee that at 210, you won't look back and say "I wish I was 270 because I had more muscle."

Cut or gain. One or the other. This is the age old body building struggle... This is why body builders swell up to 330 in the off season and down to 270 for shows. But they have a lot of chemical assistance in that department. A goal of 210 body weight is a great goal and probably very realistic and doable with proper diet and nutrition.

Yeah, I'll attest to that. I've been trying to lose weight and build muscle at the same time. Fail. Sticking to muscle strengthening with weight-loss seems to be a more realistic goal. I don't want to build, really. Just be stronger at my current size. Glad to hear you've already made progress!

I would suggest eating greek yogurt in the morning if you can find it.

Never tried greek yogurt and not sure if any store close to me sells some of it, but i will check it out if i ever come across it.

Knifegill yea its pretty much impossible to be losing alot of weight and still be building muscle... Hopefully with the plan i have set out and doing muscle strengthening exercises, and soon enough benching and dumbell exercises i wont lose alot of muscle mass.

Clay the weight i lost was fat, as i weighed myself on my dads scale. But i do agree about the muscle being the tissue expanding again, i for one am happy with this and am now able to do over 30 pushups.

Thanks for the support guys!

What are you making tuna salad out of? If you are using mayo that it not a good idea. The stuff is horrible for you. Also stay away from ranch dressing on things.

I will find my thread, more of look how far I have come thread. I will update it some now.

diet wise, everything is good if eaten in moderation. limiting your self to only certain things that you can consume is hard, you can still eat out and stuff, just make sure your portions aren't out of control. make sure you eat at least 3 meals a day.

exercise wise, start off slow if you're just getting into it again. if you go too hard, you're likely to give up easily. then slowly build your way back up.

remember, it's a life style change. sure, you can starve yourself and lose weight quickly, but that weight is likely to be put back on real quick if you let yourself go again.

Thanks for the tips Jimmy..

But if i eat smaller portions than normal (considering its everyday hosue made food) I will still gain weight if i dont exercise daily. So i have to learn to not eat the typical rice and beans everyday as my dad did,

Yesterday and today i worked out for about an hour and a half at the park.

I have been eating pretty healthy and have considered not going into a very strict diet, since after i do them, i always come back to the food i cant eat.

That being said, what i am doing now is not drinking soda, eating a lot less, and staying away from fast food at all costs. I know i will lose the weight slower, but upon further talking with my dad and uncle(who has lost 50 pounds in a year by just walking and eating better) they say that i should just keep this up even if im only going to lose maybe 10-15 pounds a month.

So far since starting my lifestyle change 2 weeks ago i have lost around 7 pounds and counting, and feeling alot better!

Great! Soda and fast food are by far the biggest contributors to many health problems. I applaud your efforts and it sounds like you're doing great. Keep it up!
