Your least favorite aquarium fish and why

Giant danios. They just won't die! :) Best tank breakeriners until they terrorize everything afterwards.
Another giant danio story from me: Mine took a piranha bite to the tail and lost half of it’s caudal fin to the flesh. Never grew back but just kept trucking along. Lived for months, maybe over a year after that. Only died due to age.

I haven't seen anyone throw up Discus yet. Really beautiful, highly persnickety dinner plates. Just kinda floating there. I can't argue the pretty, and I can see how the challenge might be attractive, but such a boring fish.

Perhaps my signature isn't quite enough to convey the full extent of my dislikes......

Discus are encompassed in it, for similar reasons BigBeard gave.
Sure they might be colorful, but they take up a ridiculous amount of time and money as well as being very fussy and prone to being stunted. Plus you're really limited on tankmates, because they're timid and slow eaters, whose sitting around (alluded to above) can get them spooked by more active fish.
Tetras give all the color with none of the above.

On the topic of fish that are super hard to keep alive, that is one of the biggest appeals to them imo.
For example, would a beautiful marine tank be as spectacular if it were no more difficult to keep alive than a danio? Would discus be as expensive if they were as hardy as convicts?
No, they will still look amazing, but something is lost when it isn’t a testament to the keepers skill and devotion.

Discus, Severums, Angelfish (pretty boring for cichlids)
Generic LFS bettas (boring, would much rather have wild bettas)
Common livebearers (platys, mollies, guppies etc)
Many tetras (prefer African tetras and some of the rarer South American tetras like Tetragonopterus)
Blood parrots (too deformed for my taste)
Shortbody fish (eww)
Tiger barbs (too nippy)

I love everything else other than these though. Usually when I head into my LFS', I skip through these and look at the other species.

For me its Severums. I dont know why but I just really dont like them, I know lots of people on here love them so maybe im missing something but its the 1 fish I will never keep.

Oh come on pal, I've got to jump in and pull you on that one, I'm extremely disappointed, lol. The red shoulder severum, in all of its spectacular glory, is one of the most stunning fish in the hobby.

I'm not usually a huge cichlid fan but the chocolate cichlid won me over, so I got one, and I've got my eye on the red shoulder severum now as well. They are breathtaking.

I know it's coming up to summer in your neck of the woods and the temps are rising. Maybe you've been sitting in the sun too long and caught a bit of sunstroke and you're not thinking clearly, lol.

that thing is hideous

Because, let's face it, everyone has one.
I don’t really dislike any fish but there’s many that don’t interest me. But if I had to say there’s one I dislike, it’s BPs and variations like long finned fish or short bodies or balloons etc… although I do like Flowerhorn
